We need to develop depth at safety, so my guess would be Tanner Miller, possibly Anthony Hitchens. We only have 5 players at safety and free safety. We also need depth at wr for next year so look for Kevonte M-Manely to play a little. We will also need a big DT for next year and Carl Davis might fill that need. And of course, everyone's favorite, A.J. Derby at linebacker.

Just curious why you have Orne and Hundermark on the depth chat at the 2s. Wasn't VanSloten in there a week ago?

Two of the four freshmen play. We have to get ready for next year with huge holes to fill. Special teams will help get them ready.

shuman, Ferentz's offenses are generally mediocre. A couple of really good years and a couple of really bad years thrown in. I believe over the years their offensive average is 62nd or 63rd out of the 118 - 120 D1 teams in the country. Where as Norm's defenses are in the top 20 over the years. Just saying our O has struggled over the years when we have had some good O lines.

Remember, Norm tipped his hand when he singeled out Ferentz and MacMillen (before MacMillan's injury). With our senior dominated O line last year and our mediocre O ranking last year, I have some reservations about this year.

Any school can fill their scholarships. It is difficult enough for the ISU's, Kansas or Iowa to recruit top level talent being in premier leagues. The best kids want to play on the big stages and if you don't have an invitation to that stage, your not going to get a look from them. If Iowa was in the MAC, how well would they recruit then?

Lou Holtz was a prime example of staying two steps ahead of the NCAA. His penalty was going to ESPN. You would think some of this stuff would follow the coach.

Rhode's and Hoieberg's recruiting difficulty has just become a nightmare. Also, ISU's long term perception is at stake. ie; alumni athletic donations and school donations.
