You might even call it "racist," in that African-Americans are disproportionately damaged by federal programs. But state legislators who are seduced by easy Washington money for education threaten to spread the misery even further.

Coincidentally, I re-read "Radical Chic" and "Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers" two weeks ago. Both books are wonderful. But Mau-Mauing is must-read for anyone interested in the rise of "community organizers." BTW, if you never read the book "The Bonfire of the Vanities," read that, too. Excellent writing, significant story.
