Nice one, guys. Love the little Nintendo jokes barely hidden in the article.

Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Little King's Story, World of Goo.

No, as much as I love Mario games, I don't buy every single one. (Super Mario Sluggers, Super Mario Strikers Charged, Mario Party, etc.) Also, yes, those 4 games are probably better than the whole Wii library, due to the amount of complete crap in it, but that's not saying that they don't have some games that are equal to or superior to many of the 5-star titles on PS3 and 360.

Also, I don't know about this, but I sent in listener mail about a month ago, and still haven't heard it on the podcast. It involved the intro and closing music of the podcast. Did I just miss it, or did Ian just ignore it?

I know that your opinion is echoed by many people around both this site and the internet. However, I disagree with some of your points. First off, I don't think many people who define themselves as "Nintendo gamers" are really jealous of other consoles. Sure, they have better graphics, better online, and a hard drive, but most don't care. I recently saw some statistic that most games are rehashes of other franchises as well. In fact, the 2 games you named specifically are sequels. Don't act like developers don't want to milk their franchises to the death too. Also, the only reason that Nintendo keeps pumping out Mario, Metroid, and Zelda games is because the fans want them. Notice how franchises like StarFox are gone? That's because they don't have as much support for sequels as the other franchises.
And, on your point on Nintendo being lazy: all other companies like to build anticipation as well. Remember E3 last year? Both Microsoft and Sony showed their motion controlling devices, yet neither of them are coming out within at least a year and 4 months upon showing them. All companies like to have the attention of the press.
I do agree that most new IP's don't get enough attention, however. I do think that Nintendo should be marketing those better, rather than putting all their marketing strength on the new Mario or Zelda game. But, I don't believe that any game could only be on any particular console, like you said. I think Mario could easily be on Xbox 360 (which it won't, of course), and I think that Uncharted 2 could be on Wii as well. When you buy a console, you just want the games that it has. Many people (such as myself) prefer a Mario game to something like a Call of Duty game. We all have different tastes, and I think that more people need to realize that.

At first I was very pessimistic about this, as it's Sonic team in the 21st century, but this game actually doesn't look that bad. Because there isn't much out yet I can't make any judgements, and most other people aren't either. Except for those ultra-mega-super Sonic fans complaining that his feet aren't a blur. Come on, people. Get a life.

Couldn't agree with you more. Still, Nintendo should still get some credit anyway for some effort in marketing other games besides their own.

Oh, yes! I've been waiting for Ace Attorney on WiiWare for a long while, and just downloaded it! Can't wait to play when I have the time! Wait- who am I kidding?! Of COURSE I have the time for some Ace Attorney!

I've never seen the real need to get a DS, because when I'm out, I don't have time to play games, and it's not really that socially acceptable for many people to play DS over the age of 10 these days. I've played the original Phoenix Wright game before, and wanted to play it, but was bummed that I couldn't because of my lack of a DS. I'm glad they put it out on Wii to reach the rest of their potential audience, like me.

Despite the crap graphics, people really should make more ports of GameBoy and DS games to Wii, especially if their a bit aged. They don't need much work, and they can milk their franchise cows for all they're worth.

Hey, Iwata, there's a little thing called COMMUNITY. And, it's on THE INTERNET. Why don't you look there once in a while, and see what people would like to see on the Wii, and make it improve much, much further?
