If not Hudson, there were also some decent veteran 2B out there that could have helped this team immensely. All these guys signed with other clubs for next to nothing. Any of them could have (1) pushed Castillo into being playing better, (2) solidify the bench or (3) helped push a failing Castillo out the door. Cora is NOT pushing anything except the splinters that are going into his a$$. If Omar wanted guy who was no threat to Castillo's job, he sure picked a winner with Cora.

Castillo is a guy who IMO deserves no benefit of the doubt. The guy admitted to the Mets brass that he wasn't "dedicated" to playing baseball last season. Fans boo bad performance, especially if it is accompanied with total lack of effort, which Castillo displayed a lot of last season. People want him gone because he is the symbol of the apathy and indifferent attitudes that continue to infect this team, and the franchise.

Castillo deserves no such treatment, IMO. Leave Murphy where is.

Oh, and Ollie was really awful. He certainly screwed the pooch today.

I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with Gary and Ron blaming that play on Perez. I guess they are trying way too hard in defending Castillo at every turn. The throw, while Ollie was off-balanced, was right there, and even the timing was good, as Gimps was right there. He simply did not catch the ball. The play should have been made, and IMO, the error was properly credit to Gimps. A major league 2B needs to catch that throw.

And don't look now, but Gimps has to started to look awful as of late.
