Thanks for the update and correction. I disagree with Steve's response to a degree also. Chapter 181 is only to determine the eligibility of a candidate to be placed on the ballot. It does pertain to the presidential ballot certification. As chapter 192 says, the candidate must meet the requirements of chapter 181 as the third condition to be placed on the ballot so chapter 181 is used to determine eligibility of a candidate. But the candidate must qualify under 192 and 181 to be listed on the ballot. The Dems and repbuclicans meet the requirements from 181, but did not meet the second requirement of chapter 192 which is to certify the candidate prior to the statutory date.

Why does the author not edit the incorrect information on this page which is being spread through the internet. The data here is invalid and should not be posted. Please read the Texas code instead of copying incorrect information and promoting it as true. Have you sent an appology letter to the Barr campaign for your mistake?

You may want to write an appology letter to the Barr Campaign as you are wrong. The Texas code is specifically broken down by titles. Title 11 is for presidential elections. Section 181 that you discuss does not pertain to presidential elections, so I think your email was uncalled for and it is understandable why the campaign was ticked off at your lack of understanding of the law. You are wrong . The chapter you discuss is not used to determine the President of the United States in Texas. Please read the law again to see if you want to be so arrogant? here's a link to the site http://tlo2.tlc.state.tx.us/statutes/el.toc.htm notice that Title 11 pertains to presidential elections and section 192.031 states "PARTY CANDIDATE'S ENTITLEMENT TO PLACE ON BALLOT" There is only one method for placement on the ballot and that's the law. You may want to send an appology to the Barr Campaign for you oversight. Was it intentionally misleading? Where you doing this for publicity? What kind of stunt are you trying to pull?

With all due respect, I must disagree with you. Texas election code Chapter 181 specifically states "§ 181.002. NOMINATING BY CONVENTION AUTHORIZED. A political party may make nominations for the general election for state and county officers by convention, as provided by this chapter, if the party is authorized by Section 172.002 to make nominations by primary election." I'm just a dumb web surfer, so I'm not sure, but I believe this chapter is to determine who the party will nominate since it says the candidate must register by January 2 Read the Texas code again. The only part of the code for pertaining to the presidential ballot is under Title 11, chapter 191 & 192. Please read this again and see if you are really want to be such an arrogant ass?
