Since she didn't meet with dignitaries to make this junket an official visit payed for by US taxpayers, will she now pay for this trip with her own money for a change?

Big Government : Thursday Open Thread: Thanksgiving Edition

As much as I look forward to a traditional Thanksgiving, where we as a blessed nation give thanks for all that we have in both achievement and treasure, I see the continuous bombardment of the commercial forces pushing Black Friday. Businesses not only advertise to out do each other by opening early on Black Friday with door-busting sales at 4 AM, some are now encroaching on Thanksgiving Day itself to upstage their competition. I implore Americans who feel heartfelt thanks for the bounty of this life and land, celebrate Thanksgiving by giving thanks for what we have and act on raising the lives of those less fortunate. Bah Black Friday!

The vote on the Senate bill this week is key. If the bill passes cloture (60 votes), then when the final bill emerges from conference for full congressional vote, the Senate needs only a simple majority to pass it into law. They can easily accomplish that with just the dems. It's an assumed automatic in the House. Now that we the public have been exposed to both bills, these ugly parents will not produce anything but an ugly baby. Bottom line, NOW is the time to badger your senators before it's too late.

I doubt any senators read this bill, but I DID read part of it today. It's truly a slash and tax effort. For instance, you normally get a tax deduction when you file for medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your AGI. That deduction now requires your medical expenses to exceed 10% before the deduction is allowed. (ref: SEC 9013, page 2034, line 20) . I read quite a bit more, but to summarize all that I did read, it comes down to HEAVY excise taxes on health care providers and pharmaceuticals, all of which will flow down to us as the consumer. Your health care premiums will also go up, whether you're on Medicare or an employer sponsored plan -- quite significantly – based on heavy taxation to health care providers and drug companies. Remember, liberals view them as the enemy, yet the increased cost and reduced benefits will flow down to all of us. No one is exempt, not even our veterans or military. All of this is meant to cover another 9% of the uninsured. I think this huge tax increase will pay for that AND also create more pork money to keep these corrupt congress members in office as they distribute these billions to their districts in earmarks to gain favor with their voters.

(1) The real cost of this bill is in the $2T range because the "smoke & mirrors" accounting shows benefits for only 6 of the 10 years whereas the payments are gathered over the entire 10 year period. (2) Much of the cost (approx $500B) comes out of Medicare benefits, meaning higher Medicare premiums as well as reduced benefits and larger co-pays, (3) the cost for Medicaid (which will pick up many of the uninsured) is excluded from this bill and is put on the individual states to pay for this. Guess what will happen to your state income, sales, and property taxes?, (4) Only 9% more Americans get covered by health care from today's 85% to get to 94%, (5) The public option is still in there to give the US Gov't ultimate control -- i.e., going to a single payer system (which has been the goal all along), (6) The "doctor fix" for Medicare coverage is excluded. This is north of $200B and will have to be borrowed. (7) The so-called savings to the deficit ($129B) is bogus. It's important to take some or all of these points and drill your senator to vote NO!!!

A good one was missed: "The Great Santini" with Robert Duval. I watched it last night (yet again) to commemorate the Corps' birthday today. From a fellow Marine to all other Marines, Semper Fi!

Breitbart.com : Obama says don\'t jump to conclusions on shooting

President Clinton could raise a tear if the situation warranted, especially if it was for a photo-op. President Bush could show genuine emotion, and did so quite often. President Obama, on the other hand, appears totally detached and can only mouth prepared statements, and when not "handled", issue ridiculous statements like his hypocritical call about judgment.. Folks, this man is a charlatan and has duped the American people with his slick campaigning, which is unending. A full third of our population would follow him to hell, but I believe that there’s a good two thirds that will vote him out of office next election.

All American patriots see through this man. He is a hypocrite and a narcissist. He'll attend the services at Ft. Hood because he has to not because he genuinely feels for these brave fallen. His mind will be on his Asia trip as he takes his position as President of the World. Watch out for more America bashing. Incidentally, he'd better be careful. High crimes and misdemeanors can include treasonous remarks, and then I say...Let the impeachment proceedings begin!
