Though this declaration may not cause much in the way of functional change, I think it is a very important step towards progress throughout the world.
I hope that the president-elect will change the U.S.'s position on this matter once sworn in.

I think that they should be given the money, in order to ensure millions of jobs aren't lost. But there should be smarter conditions than what others have proposed (i.e. writing up new business plans). For instance, private transportation is not conducive to promoting environmental sustainability. These automotive companies should be mandated to research and develop technologies and designs for competitive public transportation (i.e. designing and engineering buses, trains and monorails that are appealing to those who currently are able to afford and prefer private transportation).
Creating this condition will, ideally, encourage automotive companies to create more eco-effective technologies as well as making public transportation more widely-used so that less emissions will be created by vehicles, less natural resources will be used for making an unnecessary amount of private vehicles, and less energy will be wasted in the actual production process.
Basically, if automotive companies are forced to become involved in public transportation, there will always be a need for them to exist. This is because people will always require forms of transportation but they will not always requires modes of PRIVATE transportation. This way these companies have sustainable business plans while also creating sustainable modes of transportation.
So, that's my idea. Thank you.
