Iran wants a radical Muslim middle east with the destruction of Israel and western Democracies. They can only survive with socialism. The only reason Iran has not gone under as is, is do to Oil plain and simple, otherwise the people would rise up and would not be stopped. Muslim and/or Sharia can not operate under capitalism so therefore any "Islamic" reforms would not help their economies. They would be parasitic, depending on oil/natural resources or "Jihad" of neighbors. Their "prophet" would lead them back the the 700's. I could probably count on my fingers the number of patents coming from middle east countries. They are for the most part worthless, again except for oil. Compare that with Israel.
