I liked this overview. It was tight, didn't waste my time, and demonstrated the capabilities (and ways they would be used) quite well.

This feels like a very "closed" system. You can't explore other communities and request to join them, etc. You can't "show off to the world" on MemberHub (and our culture does seem to have a passion to become a "celebrity"). It decidedly is NOT a social networking tool.

That is perhaps its genius for existing communities. It is a closed "safe" place, where an existing network can socialize and connect. Where it is "us" on here. I think that can foster the openness required for a community to be alive.

I think the key is getting existing communities to adopt MemberHub as an avenue of asynchronous community. For me, it has only been an email list, and that only for more "official business" and not for interaction and dialogue. I joined FaceBook recently because so many folks at our church are there, and at least there I could connect and keep in touch.

This makes me wonder:

1. Available subgroups--are these visible to general members? I'm guessing that is a setting. These could open areas for discussion and dialogue for those who want that without smothering everyone in email storms. I'm guessing that is there?

2. How well can this be integrated into church/organizational websites (Joomla, etc.)? I'll try putting it in a wrapper and seeing how well it plays there. But it would be nice to have a tighter "extension" integration. And, there's a pretty big marketplace of Joomla based Churches trying to use the paltry-by-comparison "Community Builder" extension.

3. By the way, I can't send this comment, because aI used the wrong Name? How annoying! (OK, whatever is my "MemberHub" name...)
