I would question how this mitigates Palin's deep flaws as a candidate on a national level. She will not be any more intellectual or studied. Her scandals will linger. Her family issues will be there. Her lack of experience will be there. Her status as whipping girl of the MSM is firmly in place.

Palin probably has better mobility and finances to do as she will.

Then again so did Fred Thompson.

There is a lot to admire about her. But confusing gambits on Palin's part do not address those.

However liking and not criticizing Palin are not acid tests for being a Republican. I think we have enough problems as it is with one party telling us what to do.

I am so glad the world voted for Obama and he is completely representing them... and collecting taxes from them. Meanwhile we suffer from taxation without representation is this is the case. :/

1. It was an intellectually lazy joke. Suggesting any woman gets raped because you disagree with her mom's politics is crass. If you can defend that, then by proxy you condone rape.

2. The call him on it, but whereas Letterman is intellectually lazy, you are intellectually cowardly.

3. In my blogging and punditry I have called the far right for being tools. When your side condones rape, you call bygones.

Watch calling anyone a hypocrite, as you are firmly entrenched in a glass house.

Fact is this was extremely low bearing fruit for Palin to in turn throw back at Letterman.

Letterman was pretty much screwed from the second that joke left his mouth, all it took was someone to point out it was (at best) a crass intellectually lazy riff.

Not so easy to do Dave is still a reasonably powerful guy (which is different than an entertaining one) and Letterman is also the classic bully... be it with words or fists that a bully might use. Punch him back and suddenly his real colors show.
