Which means next April 15 I will have to cough up the difference in what I paid in and what I owe. So exactly how does that help?

I teach high school economics and my students do a 5 year budget set 5 years in their future, this means they do 5 tax returns. I have them do one itemized tax form and then four 1040As. I tell them that they should then be able to their own taxes, invariably someone says "I'll just get H & R Block to do my taxes." I ask them why they want to pay someone to do something they are capable of doing. One year a student said something to the effect "If the real tax forms are like this, it shouldn't be too hard." I said this is the "real form", to which they replied, "then what's the big deal, this is easy."

Sorry if it seemed I was disagreeing with everything, I just wanted to point out that people want to blame Bush for everything(and believe me, I had problems with some of what he did). True, the president signs the bill, but Congress has the ability to pare down anything that he sends(he just makes the budget). For the last, oh, 30 years or so, both the White House and Congress have been spending like the money will never run out, so you can't blame any one particular group. This administration, though, has taken the spending to the extreme, tripling the deficit in 1 year.
Tone Loc, if people thought this man was going to be for change then they got exactly what they voted for. I saw right through him almost immediately, pretty speeches, no substance, no experience, just a socialist.

I am always amazed at how people only look at what they want. Yes during the Bush years our deficit grew, but look carefully and you will see that it was during the years we were getting into the wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan, war costs money. The deficit was coming down in the two years following the gear up. Even in the first year of the Democrats control of the purse, the deficit was down, but when did we see it dramatically increase,,last year, when the Democrats were sure pretty they had control of both houses and the presidency. You can blame Bush all you want, but remember, it is Congress who holds the purse strings.

I cancelled mine in July when the chairman first came out in support of 3200. Of course I was told they didn't support it, kindly informed them they did. The woman I talked to had no clue about what was in that bill and was surprised when I informed her of some of the more repugnant items.

I am with you there. I am also a conservative teacher who has taken on the battle against the liberal unions. Many of the teachers in my school feel the same way.

I disliked the video for the most part, but the last part was pretty dead on, I am worried about all of those things,,,NOW! It seems that their predictions came true, unfortunately for the party they were so ardently hyping.

Erotica isn't the only casualty of today's movie makers, subtlety has been lost in most genres, a horror film has to have blood, guts and gore, a comedy has to have toilet humor and vulgarity and romance has to have sex. I agree with whomever said that our imaginations are so much better than reality. Unfortunately, there isn't much imagination being used in Hollywood. Think about how many movies are remakes of TV shows or other movies. The execs, producers and directors all say they are re-envisioning them, but do the vast majority of the originals need to be redone. Didn't they become "classics" because of how they were envisioned the first time? The art of saying more by doing less is lost on the over the top, gotta let it all hang out, last couple of generations.

You most definitely are in the minority for people your age, but there are a lot of us "oldies" who love our books(comics included). I get over 30 DC titles every month and have bookcases filled with books and stacks on the floor. I have books from when I was a child. I can't get rid of a book I have read, they are my friends. Luckily (or unluckily), my husband is the same way, heaven help us when we run out of room!
