Scott Granneman's Classes : A Rape in Cyberspace

I think its hard to equate a virtual rape with a real life rape, but its weird that these worlds even made rape possible, regardless of how realistic they hope to make the worlds.

Scott Granneman's Classes : German Hate Law - No Denying It

Yea, like the other posters suggested, this speech should not be censored regardless of how wrong it is. But we have luckily become used to freedom of speech and expression that citizens of other nations have never experienced, and our laws should not be upheld everywhere.

Scott Granneman's Classes : Judge troubled by King estate management, orders meeting

This is kind of like the vatican copyrighting its speeches, its acceptable in a legal sense, but just doesn't seem morally right. While I have defended this in my post above as being okay if they choose to use the profits for their charity, it seems like something that was never meant to be protected.

I think I agree with you that it would be appropriate to compare a cyborg to a clone. Its very difficult to treat either the same as humans, because they are not humans, and this could lead to significant issues in the future, but thy are definitely two futuristic groups that we won't have to consider for years, but could be treated under the same rules.

why not? I mean they are trying to make it representative of the time, and this is something to put in their game. There should certainly not be a law preventing it, as there is nothing that indicates that having this in the game is unprotected speech or action.

Scott Granneman's Classes : Drug Abuse

Yea. what makes this tough is the fact that one change creates a new patent, or so I believe, and this makes things extremely difficult to control. Companies can hold off on making changes until it most benefits them. Like you said, things have certainly strayed away from the true purpose of patents.

Scott Granneman's Classes : Silence Is Beholden

4'33 was a performance and it utilized silence, while having an orchestra sitting on the stage with their instruments. While it is silence in no sounds being made by the performers, its utilization of the silence to induce sounds from the audience is different from basic silence. If you were to do a performance that utilized an element of silence would you be opposed to its copyright protection?

Scott Granneman's Classes : Nuremberg Files: Abortionists On Trial

I couldn't disagree with you more. There are alot of things that are said that incite anger, which are okay, but this goes above and beyond. This is essentially a rallying cry for the group to "bring justice" to something that is not illegal. Between marking off names and greying them, and that quote it is essentially a hit list. Maybe if there was a law in place that made abortions illegal, these people could be brought to justice, but it isn't, so these people are calling for some sort of vigilante justice. I don't think these people are batman, but they are certainly jokers who define justice as physical harm.

Scott Granneman's Classes : Clive Thompson on Why the Next Civil Rights Battle Will Be Over the Mind

wow, just another way that advertisers can invade our lives. While I have not encountered hypersonic sounds and walked in the path of it, as time goes on I am sure that I will. I have no legal issue with it because its the same thing as a billboard that is in our view regardless of whether or not we want to see it, but the fact that it is sound makes it see so much more invasive because we can not simple choose to look away from it as we can with a billboard.

Scott Granneman's Classes : Brain Enhancement Is Wrong, Right?

I agree with sam. Nicole, I have a difficult time seeing how they are "unfair" in an academic setting. I think in your stance you are assuming that school like baseball is a competition, when its really not. While there may be competitiveness, most students are competing with themselves to do the absolute best that they can. While in baseball one player's success relies on another's failure, there is not this problem in classes other than those with a bell curve. Also while baseball has a strict ban on peds, the world doesn't so i can't agree that it gives an unfair advantage.
