It depends on the material. It can also depend on the humidity and what kinds of particulate are in the air. All of the wood parts, if real, will oxidize and turn grey. If the siding is vinyl, it'll eventually become brittle and faded somewhat (this is why I like wooden windows instead of vinyl.)

Hi back, legaleagle. Thanks. Living on the East Coast makes one want to prepare for any weather. And we can truly get any kind of weather. With more severe weather events happening these days, it's just a good idea. Mostly we have to worry about hurricanes, but sometimes thunderstorms can be very damaging. Bottom line: if you're in an area that ever has strong storms, you're better off with a basement. Of course, if you're too close to the water, you're going to get storm surge, and you don't want a basement then. : )

I have two weather radios with SAME codes, etc.; I get all of the alerts. You can program for alerts for all kinds of things, including icebergs, avalanches, floods, fires, and, of course, tornadoes, to mention a few. There's an option for tsunami, but that's not really something we need to be concerned about on the East Coast, since there are no converging plates anywhere near like there are in the Pacific. As for Tornado Alley, it seems that when the folks there calm down over one storm another one comes right along after it.

How do you know that the developer wanted bland? I never saw that in the information I've read so far. Did I miss it?

Another great resource for information on tornadoes and other weather / climate disasters: www.weather.gov or www.noaa.gov .

I like the NWS and NOAA websites because they are both rich in information on not only weather issues, but terminology, myths about storms, recommended measures, alerts, etc.

Yes; the tornadoes in Texas are most frightening. I remember seeing footage of one recent tornado in particular where tractor trailers were just picked up hundreds of feet into the air, and fell through buildings, etc.

Perhaps; however, it's unlikely. There could potentially be several witnesses to such an event, and they can't be forced to sign an agreement. That's probably why they show up at night sometimes.

Even if he did win, tweeting about having balloons and a new GMC doesn't make it news. He has not admitted to having won; he's only admitted on social media that he has some balloons and a GMC.

I don't view that as an actual admission of having won. Only a statement that indicates a win--and is impossible to misinterpret--should be causing people to think he may have won. He may have won, or he may be wanting people to think that he won, but what he tweeted doesn't mean he won. Besides, nobody who wins a valuable prize would complain about having won it. All he's tweeted was about balloons (not indicative of having won) and about a "new GMC," (again, not indicative of having won.) So, while there's only 1 HGTV dream home prize (possession is unmistakably associated with having won,) a "new GMC" and balloons are not unique, and possession of those does not indicate a win. Finally, anyone may put anything on social media, true or untrue
