No, they don't need permission to play a song at a rally. See my post above. The suit is just a PR stunt.

There is no need to get the approval of the band, their publishing company, or record label.

All that is needed is that the venue/arena where the music is being used has a general public performance license with ASCAP/BMI/SESAC. That's all.

All these foolish bands have zero legal basis for what they're doing - it's purely a PR move.

Check out a younger guy named Robert Ellis from Houston. Great country influenced by the likes of George Jones and other older folk singers.

They don't. Not on news shows/live shows. It's called the ephemeral rule.

Sitcoms and dramas - written content that takes time to be made - does need their permission however.

There have been test screenings & it's been shown at some festivals. Earlier this summer they were looking for a distributor...I'm guessing they've found one. Definitely check it out when it's in your area.

Heh, yeah...I am fortunate that I am able to get an industry pass, so thankfully I don't have to deal with all of that. Had a ton of fun this year.

I saw this at Comic-Con, and it is a lot of fun. The action, non-CGI & humor were great. Very refreshing.

My only problem with the film was the "de-mystifying" a bit of the aliens and attempting to make it purely scientific, rather than just having a being which is just evil (such as the Balrog in Lord of the Rings). Too many films/books/shows do that these days...thanks modernist, materialist thought! Oh well.

Like I said though, fun movie, short & enjoyable!

Dream on! That might actually make for a thoughtful, interesting show.

I'll just go watch Friday Night Lights again, thank you.
