"What does the bible state about particle physics and gravity?"

That they are much more obedient creations than man. Do you really think that the Creator of the universe would give us a discourse in the Bible of all the laws that govern creation? No, instead, he allows us to discover them through inspired folk such as Newton and Einstein.

"Their definition of happiness is entirely determined by them, not by you or your church. "

You define happiness how you want, but is it believed by Christians that true happiness is fully knowing and following God. We believe that all people were and are created equal. All will make mistakes, and some will follow God, and some will not. None of this will in any form take away from their worth as soul in God's eyes.

You can disagree with the Christian philosophy all you want, but you can not deny the right people have to believe in it. And we have just as much right to define what we think will make a person ultimately happy as some modern philosopher that takes the "whatever makes a person happy" stance.

I know you do not agree with it and can respect your right to do that, but that does not give you some type of moral high ground to judge our stance and beliefs.

And I have had enough parenting experience with my children who at times disagreed with me as to what would make them happy, to know better than to buy into your last point. Any difference of outlook between a child and a parent can become a relationship splitting wedge. How those differences are approached will determine the outcome.

I find it sad that people can talk of the resonance of laws and rules because they have a knowledge of right and wrong, yet they can not admit that perhaps a higher power is behind the resonance and conviction they feel.

No, it is much more convenient to dismiss religion, to cram all its beliefs, contributions, and people into a simple stereotype that can be trotted out and ridiculed during debate time.

Actually, according to the history in which I believe, the first "recorded marriage" was in Genesis 2:24-25 and was absolutely mandated by God himself. This record would predate 2350 BC by a long shot. You do not have to believe this yourself, but if you are going to debate this subject with Christians, you have to accept that we have what we would consider a credible basis for this belief.

No, that definition was not the definition commonly applied to husband and wife, and otherwise was not used to describe people.

Its ok that you don't understand the difference between much of the old law found in the Old Testament and the teachings we find in the New Testament, I wont hold it against you.

But until you do understand it, you will constantly get hung up on points that will make most learned Christians roll their eyes. If I was on your side of the debate, I would think it would behoove me to understand this as to form more credible arguments.

"You can have your own belief, but that doesn't change the actual facts..."

LOL!

You can state your opinions as "facts" if you desire. But, trying to cram them down my throat wont accomplish much except give you a momentary sense of personal satisfaction. Of course if you really want to get people to believe as you do, a little diplomacy might help.

Well, that answers that question...

And you would be wise to not underestimate the honest, educated, and loving people who believe strongly that the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman is the healthiest point of view for our country.

And the name calling just makes you look foolish.

Well, if this were to continue, it would turn into creation vs. evolution. I am sure further argument on the matter between us is pointless.

Yes, you wildly misinterpreted.

What every parent knows, is that you don't harp on your children for things they do that you don't agree with. My point is that I would not turn all our time together into the issue of her homosexuality. That would only drive her away, and unfortunately, some parents make this mistake. A loving relationship lives on common ground. The differences, not so much. We would have a few deep talks about why we feel the way we feel, but why make the issue a wedge to destroy the relationship? Quite the opposite of cold.

Unless they really are immutable laws of God, and then it is just plain smart to follow them. :-)
