One of his 3rd and Longs was like a 3rd and 20.....the defense obviously dropped back to prevent a huge pass play. Cant really learn much from that so I didn't bother to add it.
Another one was a sack on 3rd and 14 and the other was a scramble/broken play improv toss to Ward. It was just more of the same, so I figured it didn't need to be included.
You're right though, his stats in the second half were great but he wasn't asked to complete as many 3rd and Longs (typically the true test of your QBs ability to read and make tough throws when the other team KNOWS you're passing). It's Arians/Dixons/OL/Mendenhall's job to make sure you don't put your young QB in too many obvious passing situations on 3rd down. We posted an article a few days ago about the nice balance we saw on 1st downs (Pass vs Run). That's obviously important as well....the team was only 28% on 3rd down in part due to how many 3rd and Longs they had to overcome.
