You forgot Roger Ebert, John. His comments were more veiled, but they were just as infuriating. He describes the Samantha character as "a sexaholic slut," for which one of his female readers took him to task and elicited the equivalent of a written shrug. He then complained about the four leading ladies being "oblivious to Arab ideas about women's modesty." Funny how it's wrong for Western women to offend Islamic values, but it's okay for Islamic (note his whitewashing there that makes the issue racial rather than religious) men to physically threaten and/or hurt Western women because they hold different values.

As for the "recruitment tool" argument, do these Leftists understand what a horrible can of worms they're opening up? If you say that Guantanamo Bay should be closed and a piece of mindless summer cinema should be boycotted, then we should also get rid of everything the Islamic world hates: secular music, swimsuits, homosexual romance, unrelated men and women touching each other or being alone together, voting rights for women, a woman's testimony in court being held equal to a man's, anti-polygamy laws, women showing their hair in public, etc., etc., etc.
