Yeah, everyone on this forum knows why Sheen and Polanski got a pass and Mel didn't. I just find it strange that people (including as you say, journalists and Gibson's former agency) are so focused on the 'n' word rather than the woman beating. Its an ugly word, but its just a word.

I don't see why everyone is keying on the fact that a guy who beats up women used the 'n' word. The 'n' word doesn't thrill me, but its insignificant compared to punching a woman.

Yes, Hollywood is being completely hypocritical in supporting Sheen and Polanski and attacking Gibson, but all three are scum.

Interestingly, computers and files around Carol Spizzirri seem to have a way of going missing. In addition to her claims that SALF’s office computer files were destroyed by Melongo, last summer Spizzirri claimed her home computer was stolen by an ex-husband who divorced Spizzirri 30 years ago and lives in another state. The home computer theft accusation was just one of a string of outlandish allegations in a protective order she filed against the ex last year. That case was dispensed by a Lake County judge who listended to Spizzirri for just a few minutes, then swiftly dismissed her case.

Shady. I hope Mrs. Melongo goes free (though without the help of a lawyer and with the system stacked against her...) and Mrs. Spizzirri winds up in jail.

Pretty much. Still, as private citizens we can threaten to boycott any hotel or convention center that agrees to host Hizb ut-Tahrir or any other pro-terrorist group.

*Shakes head* With primary opponents like Hillary Clinton and John Edwards, it would have been surprising if Obama hadn't won the nomination.

Hillary had been the Democratic frontrunner for years (she had assiduosly hoovered up money and promises of endorsements), but she was an ineffective campaigner with little charisma and Bill (normally a good campaigner, despite his other faults) probably hurt her with some of his comments.

Saying ugly stuff one doesn't necessarily mean in anger is something many if not most of us have done at one time or another, but for a guy to hit a woman is indefensible. Gibson is slime.

I refuse to assign blame to the 'other person' in cases of marital infidelity. Marriages should be respected by everyone, but its the husband and wives who made the vows to each other and God. Every married person is going to face temptations (though of course Mel faced more temptation than most). If they want to remain true to their spouses, they will, if not, they won't.

I couldn't care less about the PR repercussions of Gibson being slime. Right is right and wrong is wrong. *Shrugs* Besides, if a person looks past all of the loving Christian men in the world who don't use their significant others as punching bags and keys on Gibson, than that is the type of person who seizes upon isolated incidents to validate a preexisting belief.

The same source that has been leaking the recordings indicates that there is one where Gibson admits punching the mother of his baby in the face while she is holding the baby. Getting pissed and saying ugly things one doesn't necessarily mean is bad, but happens sometimes, but for a guy to punch a woman...

Gibson is slime.

Sadly, the throwing acid in the faces of woman thing was pretty commonplace in pre-Taliban Pakistan and Afghanistan. Back in the day it was used against woman who told guys 'no'. Of course in the really traditional parts of Pakistan when guys got bored of their wives but didn't want to divorce them (which would require returning the dowry to the woman's family), they would set fire to them (my first few days I was puzzled by the amount of 'cooking accidents' reported in the newspapers). Even if the woman lived, her testimony alone couldn't convict her husband.
