I wouldn't say that Diaz has no guard. He slips a lot of punches and is really good at controlling the range. He didn't take any clean high kicks, for example. He just drops his guard to get to people to come in on him so that he can counter but even when he does so, he's at a range where they would have to jump in to connect.
