Sarah Silverman totally missed positioning herself. She's a real cutie with terrific delivery; but her potty mouth and weird, twisted story lines are completely off-putting, unfunny, and just in bad taste. Too bad she's squandering her talent.

Newhart is timeless and incredibly funny. No one else even comes close. "The Button Down Mind of Bob Newhart" is still one of my all-time top comedy recordings.

Johnny Carson told about how he, Newhart, Don Rickles and their wives got off the plane in Beijing for a vacation in China. Newhart looked around and with that priceless deadpan delivery of his said, "Boy! There are sure a lot of Chinese people around here." Carson could barely contain himself as he told the story.

Can you imagine taking a vacation with those three? One would rupture a gut laughing.

"Two minute lapse...???" Was she in Hanoi and surroundings for only two minutes? I don't think so. Her entire life from the time she boarded the plane on US soil enroute to Hanoi until now has been a betrayal. Wise up HJ. Your image and legacy is toast with most Americans and will go down in history along with the likes of Benedict Arnold, Mary Surratt, Tokyo Rose, and Lord Ha Ha. "Hanoi Jane" is already an established sobriquet for turncoat. Google "Hanoi Jane" and you will see how your name will live forever in disgrace. Do the honorable thing for once in your life and just disappear.

He's in over his head, much to our misfortune. Let's just hope his staff is competent, especially his national security staff, and will keep him from doing too much damage for the next four years until we can elect a leader with real substance and ability.

She just doesn't get it, does she? Does she think that committing a sacriledge like giving aid and comfort to the enemy while fellow citizens her age were dying horrible deaths a few hundred miles south of her is something we can put behind us? "Despise" is too mild a term for what I feel for her. Words cannot express the depths of my loathing. She should just STFU and leave our presence. She got off easy and she should be grateful for that instead of trying to apologize and rationalize her behavior. We're not buying it.

You are right. Any form of criticism or even innocent observation of the "black condition," no matter how objective, is racist if uttered by a conservative white male.

I have to retract something I said above about solitaire. I was referring to the time in my agency when that game was routinely available on every computer as part of the Windows installation. Since then, my agency, and I think most others, have deleted all those games from Windows installations because that was virtually all that occupied these "administrative assistants'" time for the barely eight hours they spent at work before stampeding out of the building close enough to five PM to be able to say reasonably that they left work at the required time.
