Chavez is the villain in this case for failing to garner the top price for his own citizens' natural resources. He would prefer to impoverish them in order to provide propaganda for progressives in America. The Venezuelans probably know nothing of the cost to them, in jobs or money. Mitt was right. A little class goes a long way. When people exhibit this kind of behavior, it only provides them more ammunition.

I joined the army under Ford, but I ended up with Carter as commander in chief for most of my enlistment. While most of us didn't have a great deal of respect for him (including the Georgia natives) we still bore respect for the office. Mrs. Carter was a class act.

I was stationed at Bitburg Air Force Base near Luxembourg from 1977 to 1978 with an Army air defense unit, B Battery, 6/56. I got to return to Germany around 2004 as a professional engineer in the private sector. It was as nice as I remember - the people were just as friendly. Bitburg is closed now, but I'll never forget the sound of those F-15's or the F-4's from nearby Spangdahlem when the afterburners kicked in. Aloha to all my old Army compatriots, wherever you are.

Watch "History Detectives" tomorrow evening to see whether this is verified or debunked. I've never bought into the idea that there were thousands of black volunteers, but these folks claim to have the definitive answer.

I listen to my radio - talk most of the time - while driving to and from work. I may even sit in the parking lot for a couple extra minutes if an interesting topic comes up. I'm guessing some of these folks - Arabs, Chinese, Hindu's, Russians, and Brazilians, not to mention Venezuelans, Peruvians, Persians, and Africans - also listen to radio.

Broadcast radio users can't be traced. Internet users? Oh yeah.
