Where did you track that down?

"...or expressed the slightest alarm over the Constitution’s being treated like so much toilet paper."

Please don't make too much hay out of this fact, as liberals by and large detest this document and purposefully elected a guy who is more worried about the omitted 'things the government must do for you,' than not doing the things the constitution prohibits him doing.

Liberals only care about one part of the Constitution: the First Amendment. And that only when it is used in the defense of porn, preferably NEA funded.

The video clip is 8:17 minutes long. The C-Span clock, at the end of the video is 8:17 pm.

Coincidence?

Or... VAST RIGHT-WING CONSPIRACY?!

C'mon guys, didn't you read that article in the Post this morning? The president select PAID for his orchestra level seats (a $190 value) HISSELF!!!

This is consistent with WH math. Quoth Gibbs, 'I don't think anyone in this country thinks $200 is not a lot of money'

You've been waiting to talk about Norway, eh? Well that's great. Presumably you have more than one example of a functioning social democracy. After taking my response to 'drudgesux' earlier I think it's interesting you make the assumption that I'm a business man, but that's beside the point.

You're over looking the fact the the USA already spends more on education than Norway per capita and we have worse results for our efforts. This doesn't appear to be a money issue.

Please tell me how many new prescription drugs and new live saving medical procedures their social health care system produces versus our for profit system and then I might be impressed.

You neglect to mention that Norway is the world's fourth largest oil exporter (and may I ask what your opinion on domestic drilling in this country is?) and has roughly 1/90 of the population of the USA, along with being geographically much smaller, which, as I'm sure you're aware, makes managing it much much easier.

Also, despite having mandatory military service (I wonder, would you want that here as well?), they only have 23,000 armed forces personnel, which tells me that they are leaning heavily on their NATO membership, which basically means the good ol' USA.

In short, most of what you suggest is not feasible for the USA if we are still to remain the world's policemen, a role I don't particularly relish, but there are a lot of scum bags out there. If we did it your (Nor)way, would the other social democracies start defending themselves? And if so, how much more money would that cost them per capita?

OK Gover. Do you know the first rule of respect? You give it to get it. If you honestly think someone whose handle is 'drudgesux,' who accuses everyone on the board of simply whining and having no 'alternatives,' (notice he did not ask for solutions; I did answer his 'question'), is not a troll, I don't know what is. If you think his post was not designed to upset, then I don't know what is the matter with you, since it clearly was. Furthermore, I don't believe that the people currently defending the president's policies and actions thus far into his 'reign,' are living in reality. Finally, who says a philosophy cannot be a solution?

I would be willing, then, to admit that my post was a response that might have included 'personal attacks,' if you would admit the fact that 'drudgesux,' is an obvious troll and that he did not want to hear any 'solutions,' other than those he already agrees with.

As Irwin R. Fletcher said, 'It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong... I am not a big man.'

Now I understand the problem.

None of us have proposed that we can kick up our feet. Our solution looks more like 'cut taxes, reduce government interference, allow people to keep most of what they earn, work very, very hard to achieve goals that we set for ourselves, invest wisely, continue to work hard, hopefully retire someday and have something to leave to my children (after sending them to the school of our choosing, of course).' But again, these are not typically liberal values, so I can see where the confusion comes in.

Or are you simply looking for a system that will, in fact, allow you to simply kick up your feet? Sorry, that doesn't exist, unless you plan on resting them on somebody else's back. In which case, all I have to say is I'll be damned if you put them on mine.

There was no personal attack anywhere in my post. And I did offer my idea of a solution. Again, if you disagree with the solution (let people do business, let the government do its constitutional duty to apply the law to it and make it safe by defending the country with the military), that's fine. But it is a proposed solution.

I don't have any solutions that involve expanding the government, which are, as it seems, the only ones that interest you. I apologize.

The alternative, drudgesux (sic), is for the government, being that it produces nothing and has no capital of its own to spend, to get out of the way and allow people to continue to participate in the economic activity to which they are individually suited best by interest, inclination, and ability. I know this is probably difficult for you to understand, since you most likely lack all three of the aforementioned, but, here on planet earth, when you allow the hoi polloi to create what they choose, they do it well and efficiently Furthermore, if you let them keep the fruits of their labors, you'd be surprised how charitably they will dispense with it.

When trolls like you bemoan the Repukelicans' (clever) alleged lack of solutions, you should simply say, 'why don't you buy into our solution?' Well, here's a thought experiment for you. You have a tree to cut down, and the only tool you are allowed to use is a bucket. Please don't 'bi*tch' that the tool is not suited to the task; I only want solutions.

You see, sometimes people disagree with proposed solutions because they are impractical, demonstrably stupid, shortsighted, etc. etc.
