"Sorry, not this year. George Soros, Ted Kennedy and John Murtha are next in line. Maybe we can think about it in 2013."

Sincerely,
The Nobel Committee

"When he was running for president, George Bush called the McCain-Feingold ban on soft money a suicidal move for Republicans. His conservative supporters hated the bill and never forgave McCain. Yet as president Bush signed it, merely complaining that the bill was “flawed,” but those parts he didn’t like would likely be shot down by the Supreme Court."

We all should keep this in mind as we decide who to support for the 2012 GOP Presidential nomination. EVERY candidate should be required to answer the following question:

"If Congress sends you a Bill, and you believe the Bill is unconstitutional, will you sign the Bill or not? Please provide your reasoning for signing or not signing."

Anyone who answers "Yes, I would sign it" should be eliminated from consideration, as should anyone who refuses to give a straight answer to the question.

Just have to say that I love Retracto. He's becoming my favorite character on the web. Whoever thought of him (her?) deserves a raise.

I think that those of us who live in states with initiative and referendum need to think up amendments to our state constitutions to nullify the existing union contracts and bind the government's hand from giving away the store in the future. Not sure exactly how to word such an amendment but that's my basic idea. These pension plans alone are killing state budgets.

The miniseries has already aired, so if she were going to sue she would have already done so. Also, if she files a lawsuit SHE will have to testify under oath. Civil suits are different from criminal trials in that you cannot invoke the right to remain silent. Guess we know why she hasn't sued.

"fear being questioned"

This is more than "questioning". A man is facing jail time for nothing more than speaking his mind and expressing his opinion. It's not a debate.

"If you're not happy with how much public employees make, the type of benefits we have, or jobs that we do, then vote those who agree on our contracts with us out of office."

I wish it were that simple. You can't just void a contract because there's new management in the "company". And it's not too easy to change "management" with the SEIU thugs running around.

"Third, if Illinois would be more business friendly, that would spur economic growth which would, in turn, create more jobs, thereby increasing the tax base, and increase state revenue in order to pay down the state debt ... "

If there ever were a surplus, the various special interests would be pushing hard to divert it to their own interests rather than pay down debt. I agree that government SHOULD pay down debt when there's a surplus, but the reality is it almost never happens.

Spoken like someone who never actually met a lawyer. I was a paralegal for seven years so I got to see them up close. THEY are the ones who drank beer and partied, and many still do. They spent $100,000 on an education that is way overpriced, especially compared to the damage they cause with their frivolous lawsuits.

How dare you question King Michael I (Mayor Bloomberg)!
