Although I have no love for the League of Women Voters, in view of their ideology, they should have no problem with The Pledge of Allegiance. It is, in fact, a pledge to support and defend the government, not a pledge to support and defend The Constitution, Bellamy was a Christian Socialist. The pledge he authored was founded upon a socialist/progressive philosophy.
Patriotic Americans who believe in personal liberty and individual freedom should be somewhat opposed to the Pledge, or at the very least, hold its principles in doubt..
It was authored by a socialist, and later, all but signed into law by a socialist president. (Do the research, people. Learn your own history. Think for yourselves...please.)
When governments, socialists and presidents order us to pledge to something - anything - all of my red flags pop up.
As an act of (ironic) civil disobedience, I encourage the behavior displayed by the Americans at this debate.

That's pretty much the message from both parties.
"Yeah, we're bad, but the other guy is worse."

It isn't just the U.S. that's in deep doo-doo, folks.
The times, they are a changin'.
The world - as we know it - is about to change. ...and no version of the doctrine of exceptionalism can change that fact.

Hmmm.
Google: 'Progressive Era Seminaries' and 'socialism 1880's seminaries,'
See also: 'Republican Progressive Era.'
I don't think Christianity means what you think it means.
Judge others by your own beliefs and that whole E Pluribus Unum thingy goes right out the window.
Oh...btw. True, she didn't go to Harvard and she came up through the 'ranks.' But... Don't forget that Mrs. Palin has been a politician for nearly twenty years. It's kinda difficult to be an outsider AND an insider at the same time.
Like many Americans Mrs. Plain has somehow conflated politics with religion. In America it's freedom of religion. It is nNOT the freedom to impose your religion upon others through legislative fiat.

Left or right, don't assume that you know what that means.
Once you've read the Founders intent, in their own words - and w/o cherry-picking - your modern sensibilities WILL be offended.
Whether blinded by left or right ideology, please see:
'Online Library of Liberty'
'liberty library of constitutional classics.'
As strange as it sounds, and as far from original intent as he is, Ron Paul is the closest modern analogue to a Constitutional candidate in America. ...and I'm far from being a "PaulBot."
The left loves them some welfare, while the right loves their social security. Neither can be found or justified in The Constitution. This is just one example - out of many and several - proving that neither party gives a rip for The Constitution.
Whether left or right, what you care about is exerting control over others and in turning your ideology into law by and through government fiat. (That's called a Bill of Attainder and ignores and dismisses Habeas Corpus.)

If you want a real eye-opener, look into their dual-use tech and dual-use/dual-purpose civilian infrastructure. Start with 'dual-use economy'.

Heh. Separation of church and state? That'll happen when the church gives up the 501(c)3 government teat. It'll happen when social conservatives and liberal progressives actually read and understand The Constitution.
As for the article? The Founders had something to say about state sponsored religions, too. Seems that was the whole point of that letter which mentioned the 'wall' between church and state.
At the moment, ideologues from both sides are in control of the public discussion. ...and ideologues actually don't give a rip about the truth...or about history.

Following the money and rooting out corruption is going 'mainstream.' The authors have done an excellent job.
One problem...
Most of those names and corporations can be found on the FEC reports of most of your favorite politicians, as well. You'll also find their lobbyists visiting the offices and 'gifting' the staffs of your favorite politicians.
iow, the corruption is systemic and widespread.

Remember the MIAC Report?
People say they don't trust the government or the MSM, but when the government and the MSM accused these men of criminal behavior...many of you believed the government and the MSM.
What's wrong with that picture?
How long will it be until you're next, dear reader? Then, you'll be the crazy right-wing extremist nutcase who is accused of sedition and conspiracy. ...and other self-described patriots - who also claim no trust of the government - will believe the government when it makes the same false accusation against you.
