I say we trade the FDA, the Department of Education, the EPA and any other alphabet agency that "regulates" their way around the Congress and Senate for a National Department of Foreign Tourism. If we can work it out that way, I am all for it!

Had you studied American History in College ... at least studied it with an eye and ear for details from those that were there, you may have discovered the college courses to be woefully lacking in content and substance.

Big Journalism : The Child Molester Scandal That Isn't: What the MSM Doesn't Report

The really frightening thing is that they really do believe that critical thinking skills are not really necessary and this kind of dribble really is what they are being paid to espouse to their trapped audiences! Personally, I am a product of our public educational systems but had my education supplemented by a Historian, (Grampa) an English Teacher, (Grandma) and a Post Graduate Studies Professor (Dr. Ma ... who despite her liberal leanings sees the way things are going) and I would stake my reputation on the education I received at home any day of the week but the education I got in schools? Well I had to drop out of University or be failed because I questioned the right of the professors to preach and profess their opinions while blatantly ignoring facts or encouraging any evaluation based on anything more than emotions and what they "thought" about the subject matter ... so for staking my reputation on my "tenure" in public education ... not so much!

Actually I believe that with the Pedophile Protections Act that was just passed, filing a class action lawsuit against them may hurt their feelings and be considered a hate crime on your part. I only wish I was really kidding when I say that.

I see there are still lots of misconceptions about Lincoln. Even in his own papers he freely admits that he never intended to save the slaves, free them or anything else and did actively oppose the freedom of slaves during his tenure as a senator in the fifties. (And in fact, the slaves in the Northern States were not freed until December of 1965 some six months or so after the war ended and more than two years AFTER the slaves in the South were freed) Additionally, he clearly stated if he could "save" the union without freeing a single slave he would do so. Toss in on top of that the fact that both Lincoln and Chase freely admitted to perverting the constitution in order to "save the union at any expense" and it starts to become clear. The tenth amendment does protect (or at least was written to protect) the right of the states to secede from the union. As for the war of Northern aggression, once the Carolinas did secede, Fort Sumter was effectively foreign soil. Not only did Lincoln not abandon the fort but actively sought to reinforce it and that attempt to reinforce a fort illegally held on foreign soil was what led to Southerners having no choice but to stand their ground or cede their lives, their fortunes and their Sacred Honor without so much as a whimper. Apart from that, given his belief in the Bible and what I have read about him, I have no doubt that Lincoln was in fact a good man and I believe I would have probably gotten along with him. However, there is a reason behind the saying that the road to hades is paved with good intentions ... those that dare to oppress us for our own good will do so in a clear conscious and be ever more willing to further erode our rights and liberties "for our own good". Unfortunately, we find ourselves in something of the reverse situation this time and it will be interesting to see what the ultimate outcome will be. I daresay I do shudder to think of the cost no matter what the new "final solution" may be or which side wins. The times they are indeed changing and as used to be commonly said, they are becoming "interestinger and interestinger".

Big Journalism : SCOTUS Rejects the Theory of the 'Dying Constitution,' Strikes Blow for Liberty

What is truly frightening is that only five justices stood on the side of the Constitution ... while this may be a pathetic little victory in that sense, and a pathetic little victory certainly trumps a minor defeat ... the fact that only five justices stood by the constitution remains and that is TRULY frightening.

Big Journalism : The Big Losers in Today's Supreme Court Decision? The MSM.

Corporations answer to the ultimate power in the free market ... the consumer. When left untarnished by government regulations that drag them down to the least common denominator, the corporations will always do what they can for their consumers. It is government who is having a problem answering to anyone and sadly, that is one issue that does not seem to be restricted by party lines. Why is it that the same party government that gave GM and Chrysler ownership to the Unions in favor of the stockholders (People like you who have a 401K and a vested interest in seeing the corporation succeed) also gave us NAFTA and CAFTA and higher taxes all of which took more jobs overseas leaving a major gap for us here at home in job opportunities for we the people? Why is it that Union scale wages drive prices up to pay for union administrators when the average consumer is going to buy the cheapest products ... meaning now more of those products that are made overseas where they do not have to support outrageous union administration fees that take more money from the worker than they ever give back? Why is it that more money is spent on Union administrators than on teachers and students and then those same unions are allowed to donate that "administrative" money back to the same politicians who then give them controlling interest in private corporations? Is there no conflict of interest to be seen there?

I think maybe it is time we define "Good behavior" as that is the prerequisite for sitting judges. Read the words of Madison and Jefferson and realize, if it is contrary to the Constitution, it is blatantly unconstitutional no matter what the SCOTUS may say. If this was the first time this criminal law came before the SCOTUS there is at least some room for a little leniency but ... WHAT THE HAY TOOK SO LONG?

How interesting that the gubmint wants to tax the hell out of new business, income and benefits to "help the economy and business grow" but proposes exactly the opposite approach to allow the dead-tree media to flourish? Well which is it? Do we tax to help business grow or do we give tax breaks to make business grow? Hmm, maybe if they would have kept news on the news page and op-ed on the editorial page, they would not be in the dire straits that they are in now. But hey, propaganda is better for getting gubmint handouts of money that rightfully belongs to WE THE PEOPLE right? More social welfare dumped down the drain to extend the suffering of yet another lost (and worthless) cause.

As has been pointed out but as should be taken to the next level ... enemy combatants are not criminals and thus, have not committed any "crimes" for which they can be convicted. Any liberal college educated lawyer could find numerous technicalities to get them off once in our CIVILIAN courts of "law". (Yes, I use that term very loosely) Therefore, may I suggest that we DO follow the Geneva Convention that the left seems to revere so much. Let's take a good close look at that document and offer these non-uniformed enemy combatants the same rights that they would be afforded under the beloved Geneva Convention. So what rights are they granted? Oh yeah! NONE! Looks like according to the Geneva Convention we should just shoot them as spies and subversives and be done with it ... if it bothers the liberals too much, we can just call it a very late term abortion ... and we had to let them die because that was their will anyhow in order to become Martyrs. That seems to be a great justification for their actions does it not? Gotta love liberal logic.

Didn't you get the memo? We have to kill off all of the plant life to make the planet greener! It is a classic display of liberal logic. Now if you really want to p one off, explain to them that the planet ... their precious mother gaya may be used in order for them to understand ... will be fine ... the only thing we can accomplish is to make it uninhabitable for humans to survive and when we die off as a species the earth will heal itself naturally. Since that is their goal anyhow, why should we worry about doing anything about it in the first place? Then stand back because this will generally cause a very explosive reaction

Big Hollywood : Confronting Al Gore with An Inconvenient Question

Global climate change is very real. We have had numerous ice ages and warming ages throughout the history of the world. The only things that are debatable is how can we reduce the large number of pollutants to CO2 which is a necessary part of the cycle of life for all carbon based life forms (read: everything that lives on this planet) How can we place a tax that effectively makes every creature that breathes a legal pollutant and subject to such a tax merely for living. How we can reasonably expect to tax this "evil" CO2 and expect that this will make it go away? How come there were so many heating and cooling trends before the advent of the Industrial Revolution? How we can reasonably expect to to legislate what is a natural occurring portion of the natural cycle of the globe? Can we tax and legislate earthquakes? Tornadoes? Hurricanes? Other naturally occurring events and make them go away? Is the subsequent destruction of our economy that will result from the regulation of a single pollutant worth it when China, Russia and India have all refused to participate and will subsequently create more pollutants than the US will while their economies thrive and we revert to third world status? Does it make any sense to take pollutants from someone who creates less pollution per barrel of oil consumed and give it to others who create more pollutants per barrel of oil consumed? Does the global climate change on Mars mean that the results of man's actions are that far reaching or that the actions of humans are relatively small in the overall picture? There may be more but ... unfortunately, the science is not by any means settled and to attempt to legislate based on speculation is a sure road to abuse and control. Global climate change is very real and has been around for as long as there has been matter. What is debatable remains open to debate.
