Don't want to have kids - all the power to you. I don't have any either and I may never.

Spending your life trafficking in "celebrity gossip" - pretty lame.

As usual with a Steyn column I can't stop laughing - sound and fury signaling absolutely nothing. What is this 'risk-averseness'? This 'deference to authority'? Or my personal favourite - 'remorseless surrender of individual liberty'? This is crap. This is just semantic game playing and shows once again why the so-called 'social conservative' movement' (or whatever) completely lost its way after the end of the cold war and has now gone over the proverbial cliff. When Tommy Douglas created medicare that WAS responsibility and his opponents then were pushing the same reactionary bluster that Steyn is attempting today. If I didn't know any better I would say he's just a shill for big money (!?) (And by the way- has he ever responded to that spanking that Wells gave him over the 'Fascism on the rise in Europe' thing?) This Human Rights Tribunal business is the best thing that has ever happened to the Canadian far-right and that's why they smile whenever it comes up. (And yes - they're right. Ezra's right. Nobody should be censored and certainly not prosecuted. Nobody - minority or otherwise - needs protecting from arguments this weak. You just need to let them keep talking and you start getting stuff like the above column).

Yes - the Canadian system has issues - as everybody knows - but if you get drunk and break your leg waterskiing you don't end up losing your house. Its just a whole lot more practical and way less bureaucratic. I don't know why these so-called 'libertarians' never talk about the freedom that the system DOES provide. I don't need worry about anything. I can't quit my job if I want to. I don't need to cow tow to some corporate overlord. I just need to exercise, eat reasonably good food and pay my taxes. No problem. Apparently to Steyn this is some kind of flaw in my moral character. But he's wrong. Because he's a total buffoon.

And with all this talk of a 'bureaucracy's jurisdiction over his urinary track' he's coming dangerously close to that insane General in Dr. Strangelove who barricaded himself in his office to stop communist infiltration of his bodily fluids.

Hilarious. What a hoot!

Sarah Palin could step up to a podium and literally gobble like a turkey - which is pretty much what that "resignation" speech was - and her supporters on the far right would still be declaring her the next Ronald Reagan. By all means - run Sarah Palin for President in 2012. Go for it. What an absolutely great idea.
