So, either Microsoft itself set up the fake research company and deliberately exposed it as a double-reverse publicity flourish, or it's legit research funded by a different browser and they're just cheap about publishing their new results.

KVAL - Eugene, OR : Do you want the good news or the bad news? | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Sports - Eugene, OR - E

I'd suspect that those popular headlines don't accurately reflect what your viewers are most interested in - only which headlines are the most effectively provocative. The only wrong answer in this debate, I think, is ONLY telling your viewers what they want to hear. Especially when that's done at the expense of "stories that affect the most people in the community," just like you said. The feature stories, like Kelly's band profile piece, are nice too - because their flavorful characteristics help us foster a sense of identity. Being aware of one's community means paying attention to the good and the bad. And, sometimes, the boring.

Maybe it's the anonymity? Also, by allowing / welcoming public commentary on your stories, your viewers are more inclined to voice opinions which they wouldn't have had, otherwise. Also, you're hearing from people who are at home, in front of their televisions / computers. I don't think it's very likely that these people maintain these attitudes during their workdays. Keep your chin up, KVAL! You guys are great - and if NOBODY was complaining, it'd mean that nobody was watching.

Your question: "What can we do to make our coverage more meaningful to you?" My answer: maintain the high quality standard of your news writing, and keep fairness a priority when doing so (in other words, keep up the good work). I'm excited to see a news director blog on this site - hearing directly from the person making the meaningful content decisions will really add context to the news we see here.

It's hard to form an opinion on the issue, given the fact that the video (somewhat ironically) includes ducks players very specifically not wearing the uniforms and little else at all. Did KVAL subversively and deliberately removing footage of the jerseys from the web video so that we're driven to curiosity?

KVAL - Eugene, OR : DMV will be unable to issue licenses on Saturday | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Sports - Eugene,

It's possible that this one-day closure is especially relevant , because many people could be trying to get a state-issued photo ID for their voter registration. The Oregon DMV is closed on one Saturday a year, and it's the one right before the voter registration deadline.

This is disappointing - The community of students in Eugene might actually be the most politically informed demographic in the city, considering that required coursework keeps their eyes on the election for the sake of their academic performance. The rest of us are generally informed by the media (local & national), and only so informed to the level of our active pursuit of that information. Long story short - The student vote is essential to the process. It's disappointing that they're becoming less involved, politically.

KVAL - Eugene, OR : Stakes are sky-high for Palin-Biden debate | KVAL CBS 13 - News, Weather and Sports - Eugene, OR- Eu

In terms of the debate alone, Biden handled the evening much better. I got the feeling that Palin had assembled several "canned" answers in advance, and steered the questions in order to use them. Often, Gov. Palin deliberately changed the subject without answering the questions at all, so that she could use memorized material. Closing arguments were both effective, however.
