It is available online in stores like amazon, also some local Indian groceries keep this item on their shelves. Hope you are able to find it :)

I'm guessing it was the variety of rice you used. I have been using brown basmati for a long while now and I consistently get good texture with it. I love it for things like mixed veg rice and fried rice because it holds it's shape so well after cooking. Maybe you might want to consider changing the brand and see if you get better results :)
