Not to change the radio station, grab something from the front seat, etc?! Even if he had his eyes on the road "at ALL times" it was night, and who expects a person to be walking/lying/whatever he was doing in the road. I feel like maybe some people should not be naive about what he was doing on the side of the interstate at night.
