Daily Camera.com: : Vegan restaurant Native Foods Café opening at Boulder\'s Twenty Ninth Street - Boulder Daily

There is a big difference between being vegetarian and being vegan. I should know. I've been both. But if you're vegetarian, you can still eat at a vegan restaurant. Not so the other way around. Besides, vegan cuisine is more thoughtful than regular cuisine. Because it doesn't lean on the 'crutches' of meat and dairy, its practitioners have to find more creative ways of putting together tasty/appetizing dishes.

What's gross about vegetables? Soy is just a bean. Wheat and pea protein come from...well...wheat and peas.

I haven't eaten at Native Foods before, but I've been vegan for about 5 years, and looking over their menu, they feature a lot of things I haven't seen before. It's a big plus that they make everything themselves (i.e. no processed foods, preservatives, etc). I'm sure the food will be delicious, and I hope the restaurant will be a hit. Ever since VG Burger closed, Boulder hasn't had a decent, dedicated vegan restaurant (which seems odd to me, considering how many people in this town are vegetarians). It's like any business: if the people don't turn out to support it, then it will go down. So, don't just wish them luck; actually go there to eat a meal now and again!

So sooo excited about this! It's about time Boulder got something truly different. I hope Boulder's vegetarian and non-vegetarian communities support it like crazy. Good food is good food, period.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder McMakeover: Plans to raze, rebuild longtime McDonald\'s on 28th Street - Boulder Daily Camer

This is really sad. Slowly but surely, everything in Boulder is changing. I have so many fond memories of going to the 30th Street McDonald's as a child. When did they stop using the train for birthday parties? That was an awesome place to go as a kid! For it to be donated to the city, as if it were some museum piece? The life has literally been sucked out of so much in this town. The whole 're-imagining' of the Crossroads complex as 29th Street really failed in my book. I'm saddened to see these places being razed as if they mean nothing. Listen up, Boulder: what you call progress is messing with people's memories!
