These people covered from head to toe - they haven't considered that they're going to go through changes in their life and possibly not want to look like this anymore? I wonder how much it costs to get tattoos removed. I wonder if insurance pays (I think not). I wonder if it hurts.
No doubt many people who really want to volunteer are prohibited from doing so because of the fees. If organizations really want volunteers, they might have to decrease their costs. Then they could make the same amount of money or even more money through more volunteers, and more people could volunteer because they could afford it. This is such a simple theory. There must be something wrong with it.
I enjoyed reading this, as I always like to read that I am doing good things for myself. Isn't it just green and black teas, though, that have antioxidant effects? If all teas have them, great. I'll branch out.
Also, you can always stay after or arrive before the big bus tour, stay in a hostel or somewhere super cheap, mix with the locals and see the off-the-path sights to immerse yourself and have some real experiences outside of the tour.
So...if you want to talk politics at dinnertime with people who might be otherwise reluctant, you can just plop a plateful of Obama-Fingers in front of them, and the discussion may just take off. How could it not?
I just recently found this article. I'm thinking I'm going to do this for my upcoming trip to the Mid East. Thanks for the tips! P.S. I like "Stress is also contagious." This is good to remember in all aspects of life.
I think this is just so well written. Bookending it with your mother's first impression and her sentiments now was really clever. Great story.
Hmm, you make this sound pretty desirable. I would love the extra immersion it would bring. I'm going to think about it.
With other CEOs making far more than $2 million, I think cutting his own pay to two-thirds was a humble step for this man to take. His lifestyle will have to change drastically, when others in his position aren't even willing to freeze their pay and endure just a minor change in their lives. I hope other CEOs, etc. look at him, think he's done the right thing and realize they can well afford to give up some of their own money. Even if no one follows his example, though, kudos to him for setting the example and for saving people at his own company from layoffs by pumping his own money into their paychecks.
Great ideas - I especially like the idea of looking for new perspectives and acting like a tourist at home.
