Good to hear the pilot wasn't injured. As tempting as it may be to try and turn back to the airport after a low altitude engine failure, it is the wrong decision. Just maintain control of the plane and put it down in the best possible location. it may not be pretty, but you have much better odds of survivability.

The Piper Pawnee has fixed landing gear--it cannot be retracted. And yes, it does seem likely the engine quit (possible fuel starvation), or was not producing sufficient power. Thankfully, neither the pilot nor any persons on the ground were seriously injured.

Agree! I have seen regulars at a number of coffee shoppes, but never like Trident. Part of me felt sorry for some of those people. Many of them just seem like lonely middle-age folk (possibly some homeless or off-the-grid type) that use Trident as their gathering/socializing place. That's totally fine, but 6 or 7 nights a week? That being said, it's a lovely spot and I hope they see many more years of business.
