I believe you're wrong on Leno's contract expiring in 2009. I believe that one wasn't signed until AFTER NBC offered Conan the Tonight Show.

The information wasn't that inside:

"Rumors have been circulating that NBC would like Johnny Carson to take his golf swing out to the links after his contract expires next September and let Jay Leno permanently replace him on The Tonight Show"

Johnny didn't want to go.

Jay not only squeezed Letterman out, he forced Johnny into an early retirement. At the time Leno's ratings as guest host were higher than Johnny's ratings, so it was easy to convince NBC that it was time to part ways with Johnny.

Great point about Conan saving the Tonight Show,

Thanks for your invaluable insight.

You're confusing Leftist talking points for actual history. The myth of the Noble Savage who was cheated out of all their real estate by the Western Settlers. That's the same myth this film was based on. Unfortunately, it's mostly fiction. Like Manhattan Island, much of the United States was purchased from the Indians.

When you can show me a group of indigenous people anywhere in the world, willing to give up antibiotics, cars, cheetohs, , six-packs, blue jeans and and central heat; and return to the old ways, I might believe there are some who would have liked to remain primitive.

I've never met any.

"Itr showeed a rich stable culture"

No, it showed an imaginary culture.

There has never been a primitive culture, in the history of the world, that wouldn't trade it all, for a little Western Technology. Whether is was Indians selling Manhattan island for some glass beads, or Eskimos trading oil rights for snowmobilies, indigenous peoples have always craved the wealth that Western Civilization brings along with it.

Dammit Hank I'm a comedian, not a writer. I capitalize Profit and Corporations because I think it's funny.

And anyone who thinks that Avatar is a documentary, wouldn't be in my audience for long, unless they lock all the exits. I don't take environmentalism very seriously, and have angered hippies to the point of walkout many times during my career.

And if I'm not mistaken, the Na'vi didn't believe in property. They believed that everything belongs to everybody.

I preferred it too.

An American Carol was too agenda driven, whereas in Avatar the plot was almost an afterthought; an excuse to string together a bunch of great special effects.

And because I believe in capitalism, I have no problem with Cameron and his corporation making a huge profit on their investment.

"Modern Liberals want to force everything to be 'equal.'"

Good point. And in the final scene, the blue girl says (paraphrasing) "The tree god doesn't care who wins, the tree god only cares about balance."

Meaning that "Equality" is the highest moral value to the tree god.

But in the end, even the tree god realizes that human-like animals are more equal than others.

It is my understanding that the intention of this site is here to attract Hollywood Conservatives into the fold, and assure them that we're not all narrow-minded Philistines.

Ignoring the merits of the film because of the political statement only feeds the negative opinion many artists have about Conservatism.

There is a hope among us, that some of the geniuses who helped create the delicious world of Pandora, are on our side politically. I don't think we should spurn them.
