Yeah, I agree, maybe it's best to keep a journal then work from that when you get back? I know in the past I've blogged my trip, then once I got home, cleaned it up and added specific facts, links, grammatical changes, and romantic encounters that never occurred.

The Expeditioner Travel Magazine : Do Australians Travelers Really Not Know How To Tip?

It's weird, as an American, I'm usually taken aback when I realize I'm traveling somewhere where tipping isn't expected (a nice surprise). I think overall, it's safe to go with 15% no matter what. Even if it's high for someplace you're traveling, it's not like it's going to break the bank, and it's a nice gesture. And if it's a little low (like for a waiter in NYC), it's not too much less than what they were expecting. At least no one is getting stiffed. (Regarding the waitress bringing back change: that's expected. Just leave the amount meant for a tip on the table, or send it via PayPal directly here to TheExpeditioner.com)

The Expeditioner Travel Magazine : A "How To" On Surviving Long Flights

Embarrassingly enough, I had both my toothpaste and hair gel confiscated by the TSA this weekend because I'm so not used to taking carry-on baggage with me. This has nothing to do with long flights, but I just wanted to share this. However, my own two cents regarding long-haul flights: choose your seat wisely. If you're a sleeper: get a window seat. If you're a roamer/frequent bathroom use: get an aisle seat. Also, right before you check in, take a look online to see which seats have been sold. You can easily change your seat at the last minute to an empty row to allow you to stretch out for the duration of the flight.

The Expeditioner Travel Magazine : We've Got Your Back: Ways To Avoid Being A Cafe Douchebag

Ha, well I do have my bag and books spread out on the next computer next to me, so you've got me. However, there is also a dog sleeping under that chair and I'm the only one in Siem Reap that seems to be blogging at 10:30 a.m., so I think I should get a pass.

The Expeditioner Travel Magazine : How Many Days Can I Travel On $1,000? (Your Guide To The Cheapest Countries To Travel)

Ha, well actually Canada's dollar is basically equal to the U.S. dollar right now, plus travel costs and expenses are not much different (unless you're buying lots of books), so I figured that the statistic for U.S. travel would be a good marker for Canada as well. Good info about Korea too. And about China, that may be a little low on expenses in my chart, but again I tried to balance it out with rural travel too. Were you traveling in more expensive areas of China?
