I'm not worried about Drew. He's slumping, and may be pressing too hard because the whole team is slumping. He'll come around, and sooner rather than later.

McDonald has been about as good as we can hope for as an emergency call-up. He made a big splash in his first game, so much so that it looks like he's tailing off now, but he's giving what he can to the best of his ability. When Ellsbury and/or Cameron get back, down he goes, possibly to become a trading chip and further help the team that way. This is a showcase opportunity for him.

As far as Hermida catching Wakefield: why not just skip the middleman and give Hermida Wakefield's spot in the rotation? (<-- yes, I'm joking!)

Fighting to keep the internet snark-free is a losing proposition. Look, I love the Sox as much as anybody, and while I am not as statistically-minded as many other commenters on this site, I do read the posts here, and I do understand sample size, regression, etc. How big a sample size do we need to know that letting Texas steal nine bases (against zero CS) is unacceptably bad, or that pinch-hitting for Papi is a momentous change in Francona's approach?

To be a true Red Sox fan, and worthy of commenting here, must I stifle my disgust? This team has been playing very, very poorly, but I am only allowed to offer praise? I am not a troll; next thing you know, you'll be accusing me of being a closet pinstriper. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am very frustrated (I believe understandably so) with what I've seen so far this season, and while I am "bitching and complaining" about this team, it is because I have seen precious little worthy of praise. It is not in an effort to upset anyone further. If that has been the effect, I am truly sorry.

I am confident that the Sox will improve, but that doesn't mean I should have to keep quiet about their failings.
