Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if she lost her bending. And maybe that's exactly what she needs in order to get in touch with her spiritual side, maybe travel to the Spirit World and meet the past Avatars (at least Aang). Then she could learn to unlock her chakras, master the Avatar State, regain her bending and reveal that Amon can't take a person's bending permanently.

Of course, that's just my speculation... :)
