Hopefully, I understood the article correctly, but for the most part it is about the freedom for the states, and the people. In other words, the people vote the guy in, not the senate, and so the people have the right to make a wrong a right. In fact all states should have that right, not just NJ.
The house and the Senate are voted in by the populous, so in all fairness if you don't like what they are doing then recall them.
It is so much easier said then done though, it should only take about 6 months but already the democratic machine has put the boot to the brake and now we are looking at years and I am sure that the senator will hope that people forgot that he did not listen to his voters.

Too many times, rules and laws are made for one situation this is sometimes a good reason for a law, sometimes it is because we know that this behavioral pattern will repeat. All I have to say is Volunteering was what this country was build on, many kids enlist many people will continue to. Some folks volunteer for food pantry or crossing guards but for pete's sake they are not looking for anything more rewarding then a smile or a thank -you perhaps that is what the union wage should be.
For crying out loud government get the heck out of the way! Perhaps this could be another beer summit.

Terms and definitions confine the way people act and react. When you label someone left or right they are confined within that realm. I find that if you keep labels off of individuals and let them speak as persons instead of trying to figure out which label to put on them they all come out just about the same. I am sure that let me make it clear, of the common folk even folks that have been elected to city county offices are more likely to see that you can't raise taxes to the point of non-production.

We talk about lowering salaries, about cutting spending about changing the houses come this next election. The worst thing that no one has said or mentioned is the Staff of the houses. These people have been there and will stay there. Brown's new staff has almost half of Kennedy's and he is a republican, yet those staff will continue to write these 2000 page essays of laws that should never make it to the floor.
Perhaps it is time for us to look at the real problem not just the hacks of the houses but the real puppet masters. When will someone look at the staffs and really see who writes these bills and how long they have been there.

that would be okay too, the company I worked for lost 40% of thier workforce and is still in it, why should the government be able to do the same thing,

I am not saying it is a bad idea or good but 20% is a lot perhaps 5% a year for the next 3 years for the folks that really work and congress would get a 20% pay cut right away since accordingly it should be within the working wages. I am sure that it will not pass this congress but it should the next one or two.

According to wiki
"In May 1968, the Israeli government paid US$3,323,500 as full payment on behalf of the families of the 34 men killed in the attack. In March 1969, Israel paid a further $3,566,457 in compensation to the men who had been wounded. On 18 December 1980, Israel agreed to pay $6 million as settlement for the US claim of $7,644,146 for material damage to the Liberty itself"
although human life is priceless at least they did try and make amends also just for grins do I have to mention the LBJ was the president that pushed this under the rug?
Care to name any other countries that we send aid to that have done the same? I can't think of any but I will wait.
