They give the military funding and have some measure of oversight. But I would not give credit for 'running' the military to Congress.

Frankly, you have just earned more. And I must echo the others here, leave the post up. The surest way to discourage frauds is to shine the light on them as they are caught. And who knows how many others he may have scammed, how many donations have been collected, or where said money has truly gone?

No, Mr Witt needs to be investigated. Not only under the Stolen Valor Act but by the FBI for charity fraud. I know that the FBI set up a task force to deal with Katrina Relief fraud; they very well may have one by now for Haiti. Turn this matter over to them.

Getting the word out for tents is all well and good... but what is called into question here is your credibility and determining that you are who you say you are. Current actions and evidence would point to 'no'. Can you provide any evidence to the contrary that can be confirmed?

Frankly, if you do not turn out to be who you have claimed to be... you will have hurt your tent cause significantly through your misrepresentation. Nobody will trust you... and certainly not with their own hard earned donations.

The thing that tipped me off was his willingness to talk about being part of black-ops. When one has a security clearance/job; one does not normally talk about it. And it takes a very long time for those kinds of things to be unclassified, if they ever are. My father will take some of his USAF/NATO stories to the grave... that's simply the world he lives in.

You and Randy have done a great deal of research into the claims of Mr Witt in order to confirm who he is and I appreciate it. Actually, I find that military/former military can practically 'smell' a poser a mile off and work diligently to publicly identify them. I, for one, am grateful that you and yours do. It helps to keeps the focus on the real heroes, sung or unsung.
