The thing is, NA shouldn't be influencing YA in any way. The reason NA appeared in the first place was so that writers/readers could separate the more mature content from teens while still keeping the immediacy and lightness of YA writing. But now you're getting books with mixed signals like this one, where the cover says one thing and then you read it and it says another. I do wonder how much this will affect sales. I totally know what you mean. Like when did YA get so explicit in covers? They used to be fun, quirky, melancholic, romantic, but now we're getting this.
