Thanks for giving me a great new word Richard - loving this word pluck.

So far I have been to applying the same approach to being a clear signal in social media as I have been at work on in my business. Get clear and focused in your message and I think your signal becomes clear. No doubt I have work to do! I chose leadership in as an initial focus for my social media presence, but it is only one facet of the work I do with clients. Some days I wonder if I have gone too narrow in an attempt to be clear and focused. But I can say it has been a great way for me to learn which was the point of this strategy. Guess I will just have to trust in the journey.

That is so true. The good news for me is that it means I will have work for a long time to come helping people get out of their boxes both old and new :-)

I'd add trying to use old technology to do things the same old way - when the paradigm changes there are so many new possibilities to explore yet we too easily stay in the box created by the technology we already know.

This is very insightful & helpful. A real bonus that it's full of straight talk and humor :-)

My favorite thing that you said in this post "New technology is not the answer to making things that suck work."

I agree with what you said especially #1. Relationships must come first. In the end I think there is a natural selection process and fortunately in twitter it is a lot easier to select. There is not a close that I have had in my business that did not come from creating a relationship first. I don't expect it to be any different here.

You can tell a lot about a person's approach to, motive and understanding of) twitter by looking at their last page of tweets. If those send signals that their motive matches mine the links to a promo page or auto-DM's won't deter me from following initially - I figure we are all still learning. Focus too much on selling in your tweets though and you are likely to get selected out pretty quickly.

Great distinction.

"The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education." Einstein I think our education system could learn a lot from what you are saying here. There are way too many people teaching what used to work!
