CBD, on its own merits, is more than enough reason to fully legalize CANNABlS!

Cannabis does not need to be smoked. There are machines called vaporizers that heat, but do not burn, the cannabis- eliminating the health hazards of smoking and secondhand smoke. Tinctures, capsules, edibles, and even "breath strips" are available in California dispensaries.

Pharmaceuticals are expensive! I once watched a very elderly lady pay over $400 for a few bottles of pills. How many were for conditions that cannabis could treat? Cannabis that could be grown for pennies among the roses? Our seniors are already choosing between medicine, food, or utilities! The savings for them could be huge! In an 2005 AARP poll, 75% of seniors who responded were in favor of medical cannabis and other polls echo this support among the general public.

Organized crime would stop growing in our national forests if cannabis were legal. There would be little profit in it if it were legal. Look what happened with alcohol prohibition. Organized crime is no longer interested in bootlegging- there isn't a large enough profit! As it is, "home-grown" is beginning to cut into the cartel's market, as more and more people begin to produce their own..

Dispensaries are necessary for those who are too ill to grow. Unlike dispensaries, street dealers don't check a client's ID, don't care about a client's age, don't care if they have a quality product, nor do they pay taxes.

In light of its remarkable safety record, wide range of medical uses, and the elimination of organized crime's trade in cannabis, cannabis should be legal and freely available without restrictions.
