A friend of mine came home one evening and was immediately attacked by his wife with a kitchen knife. He had deep defensive wounds on the backs of his arms. He had to physically restrain her or she would have killed him. The neighbors heard the ruckus and called the cops who proceeded to arrest -wait for it--- HIM. They would not listen to a word he said and did not bring him to a hospital but straight to police dept. She was never convicted of anything, and his "charges" were dropped.

99 times out of 100 it's probably the guy, so it's hard to blame the cops. But if a woman is attacking you, get the heck out of there or risk your own arrest.

Spoken like someone who has not used a Mac. If you use a computer for work or school, Mac is the way to go. Using a Mac is significantly different than a PC, and in my opinion it is better. I really hate spending 3x for essentially the same power - but the Mac OS and hardware make it well worth the upgrade. If you are a gamer or an accountant, then a PC might be a better choice because of the hardware customizations and financial applications.

That's what the article says - but it include the whole county and all retail bags.

According to the article, less than 6% end up in the recycling can nationwide - maybe it's better in Boulder.

What boulder is trying to accomplish is to send fewer bags to the landfill, trying to address an issue that will only get worse as the county's population increases.

The question is, will a ban help or just create a different problem. All good ideas are welcome

The problem is 781 tons of plastic into Boulder's landfill each year, and I'm sure the City Council would be happy to hear any well-thought out solutions - besides do nothing.

This is a simple local issue it shouldn't divide the community, but that's the world we live in.

I'm glad you saw the light! Making the world perfect for me one law at a time.

Nah, I would vote for either party if they had the best candidate.

Taxes and subsidies are two of the most powerful and useful tools a government has.

It's simple: Tax things you want less of. Subsidize things you want more of.

No heavy handed laws - just a push in the right direction.

The problem is deciding the direction. I personally think the government should stay out of it in most cases. But there are issues that no one is motivated to address, like pollution, when government action is appropriate.

Try turning off the conservative radio for a few days, the constant stream of propaganda is damaging your common sense.
