In related news, Pro Player stadium imploded when it rained on Sunday, Sun Devil stadium crumbled from being hot and dry, and Houston's Reliant stadium collapsed under the weight of 6 obese people holding pulled-pork sandwiches.

Deutschbag...I'm confused. So when your boy Hartline just says 'Ohio State University' is he talking about THE Ohio State University, or that other Ohio state university?

There's no way thats elin, right? When's that picture from, 1970? And just as an aside, maybe my favorite part of this whole "scandal" is the guys running around talking shit like "man if you were married to elin why would you ever cheat?" This is the Hugh Grant critic syndrome. You might as well put a big-ass flashing neon sign that says BETA on your forehead. Anybody that asks something like that has obviously never banged a hot chick.

It's my favorite cliche, and it's a cliche for a reason:

For every hot chick, there's a guy that's tired of banging her.

Ally- I have a few retorts to your rather insightful comment.

1)do you have any evidence that you’d like to cite that confirms cheerleading is the most dangerous sport in the word, or even the world? Through google scholar I’ve accessed a number of peer reviewed journal articles, and I’ve seen cheerleading described as the high school sport most responsible for injuries among females, but in no reputable study is it described as the most dangerous sport anywhere.

2)at no point did I claim that cheerleading didn’t require hard work and sweat, and I’m certain there’s no small amount of crying involved.

3)As far as ways in which cheerleaders flip and twist, I don’t know…I can imagine quite a bit.

4)Did you actually read the post? I believe I said I was agnostic about whether cheerleading was a sport. If you think it is, good for you. I don’t particularly disagree.

5)I don’t think cheerleaders are dumb and annoying. I regularly discuss current events with cheerleaders over our post-sex cigarettes. But that’s just college cheerleaders, of course.

6)I’m not sure what would preclude the members of the squad in question from being in high honors classes. I certainly haven’t made any claims to the contrary.

7)I’m not sure why you put “earned” in all caps in reference to the squad getting to the Gator Bowl. It’s not like I alleged they ran a blow-job marathon on the selection committee.

8)There is a kernel of truth to your comment. I was always a little bitter that I couldn’t get my toes up past 90 degrees on my toe touches. And I always had a little problem keeping my elbow in on my “Number 1 For Sure!!!!!”s.

9)I would never hate on cheerleaders. I have six cheerleader friends.

10) There are a couple of incontrovertible truths in my analysis that you didn’t bother to refute. First, the stamina required to execute three minutes of explosive physical exertion (a cheerleading routine) is simply not equal to the stamina required to execute forty minutes of explosive physical exertion (a basketball or football game). It’s just not the same.

11) I’m perfectly willing to admit that cheerleaders are tough. It’s just that claiming someone is yelling despite having lost their voice is not the best demonstration of toughness. Ronnie Lott is a football player that is well known for, among many other things, having his finger knocked half off during a hit, then going to the sidelines and ripping it off entirely by himself so he could continue playing. I’m sure any number of cheerleaders have competed with sprained ankles, bruises, hoarse voices, etc, but until one of them tears a couple fingers off to stay in the competition, don’t try to convince me of their toughness by claiming they can talk after they’ve lost their voice.

12)You sound cute…want to grab a drink this weekend?

to expound on that point, one of the guys we went to school with in the honors program at Harvard is still in poker debt today. not only is he the smartest guy i know, but he worked like 130 hours per week and is still trying to pay off Johnny P and co. in the Bahamas. Meanwhile, every dude I've met from South North-Central Eastern Community College has easily paid off all the debt they accrued at Florida International School of Law and is bringing down six figures. For all you poker players out there, people that show me their certifiable IQ scores of 67 are more conclusively demonstrating intelligence than anybody that voluntarily admits to being a "poker player."

i dont know man...top college athletes don't really get shit compared to the money they bring in. a college scholarship and a small stipend are not exactly getting paid "handsomely." and there's always this argument floating around that they receive a priceless education in exchange for their service, which is bullshit because nothing a big time college athlete gets resembles an education at college. they do get a degree, which works for the low level guys that aren't going pro. but as i recall the o'bannons were the shit back in the day at UCLA and the NCAA probably did make a ton of money using their likenesses, so I'll back eddy on this one. not sure about a bunch of guys from 1966 though.
