Sage, I couldn't agree more. Marketing and user satisfaction and confidence is what separates Facebook and LinkedIn from every random NING network being established. Once a community hits a critical mass number, and it is different for each one, if it is not supported, the members lose confidence and trust. Very few can survive, like the Craigslist bulliten board without creating a system that will ostracize offensive members, i.e. marketers, spammers, affiliate whores, porn and dating slingers.

We will continue top see social sites cycling through, and the good ones, and the well run niche sites will become popular, like barber shops, bars, newspapers and convenience stores. Thanks for the post. Now, back to March Madness. John

Eric, thanks for reading my blog. It is a team effort, but I am certain you have been there, the founder has to be committed. It\'s not always easy, but it has been as rewarding for me as anything I have done. Thanks, John

Duncan, Local would be more effective for most businesses. The web is global, but we see with geo targetting, companies are going in that direction. It is only a short matter of time before you enable Twitter to send you geo targeted messages, which will allow you to walk past a retailer, and receive an invitation and discount to stop in and buy something. I also think niche, which could be considered local, in that it is a smaller market will cut through clutter.

I think you are going in the right direction with local, as well with video. My advice would be to make sure you tag your video so your local audience finds you. Social networks seem to help, but when I analyze my websites statistics, 40% of my traffic is still coming from search, and long tail keyword content is easier to rank on in search. Thanks my friend, and keep in touch!

Great comment, and great ideas. I hope they do. The problem is, Haiti is chaos, and it will take time to pull it back together. I don\'t think money or support is an issue, I believe it is logistics. Dome buildings sound like a great way to mitigate future damage. Thank You!

He may not be missed by many, but Catcher in the Rye will never be forgotten by me, or most people who have read it.

Thanks John. I think it is an interesting list, and it will be fun to see what happens to these tech companies in 2010 and beyond. Cheers.
