I agree that this is totally out of control. Sure there is a middle ground, but I don't see us reaching it any time soon or soon enough to matter.

Okay, off subject: I am watching the White House Correspondents dinner on FOX. Of all the low class, idiotic things from Obamaaa to say and joke about; the photo op in Manhattan. He said his daughters were not there( at the dinner) because "they are grounded, they have to learn they cannot take Air Force One on a joyride to Manhattan no matter whose daughters they were". For decency's sake, it did not go over well. How classy!

Where I veer away from the basic Republican platform is on the environment. Although I believe that most of what I hear about global warming is bunk and believe that the whole environmental movement is out of control, I do know that water is a very dear resource and we are in trouble nationwide. It is very evident here in my corner of the world...the CAFO(Confined Animal Feeding Operations...aka, chicken and pig farms and of course cattle) capital of the country. Every stream we have is on the Impaired Waters list.Our aquifers are historically dropping 2 to 3 feet a year. These operations use tremendous amounts of water. Then we have the ethanol plants that are crippling the food markets and consuming even more amounts of water....tremendous amounts of water. We can't get around or go up against the money of Farm Bureau. FB money is in just about every politician's pocket here. I never knew a thing about all this until 2 years ago. Now, I know more than I wish I had ever learned. It is absolutely sickening what these lobbyist do to our country. It should be outlawed.</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial">

Everyone I talk to says the same thing, "What can we do?" I wish I knew but I do know that we have to make sure that our voices are heard by our representatives and senators. I know it doesn't seem like much, but it can make a difference.

Bet they contribute to the campaign....

The government said it would spend $285 million in economic stimulus funds to buy fuel-efficient vehicles from General Motors, Ford and Chrysler by June 1. The purchase is to include 2,500 hybrid sedans, which officials said was the largest single purchase of hybrid vehicles for the federal fleet to date.
