If Chemistry does fold, it would be one heck of a failed ad campaign.

Quantcast shows 6 million on Match.com, 3 million on eHarmony and 890,000 on Chemistry. It makes a lot of sense for them to move the good software assets to Match.com, enhance that market segment and move the Chemistry customers over.

Hmm. So, I was going to say that all the hyperbole about the male-female research was hyped and possibly not even true if they are just going to plug it into alternative lifestyles but the disclaimer that their matching is based on heterosexuals seems to cover that angle. I do wonder how well the matching algorithm will work given how well it works with the existing user base...

I guess this answers my question a few weeks back about something "cooking on the stove". I wonder if it will be like a Chevrolet vs. GMC truck or if there is something different under the hood...

Bright side: the more people who can complain about bugs in the system will get them fixed.

So, when are we going to roll out the red carpet for Compatible Partners members to come here and gripe? :)

Hrmph. Perhaps I'm up a creek without a paddle (or a life-jacket) this FCW. I got ONE new match today. This will be the subject of another post I am formulating.

I do not subscribe to the insta-close methodology (only if the match is totally unattractive in appearance to me and no amount of it being bad photography could make me feel differently) and I'm still batting 1 in 100 overall in terms of dates (more on this one of these days).

The ones that I have gone out with, I think that the experience was worthwhile but if I had responses from other matches that didn't communicate, some wouldn't have gotten as far as a date. So, I'm not sure if it is worth it to go as far as a date on a match your gut reaction is to close or that you feel like closing because there isn't much chemistry online. It's a tough call.

Thanks for the notice, eHB. I'll post some feedback mid and end of the FCW. It is pretty quiet on the eH front for me these days...hopefully the FCW will liven things up.

As I move from post to post on the blog, it "remembers" the last comment I posted in the post a new comment textbox, which doesn't seem to make sense to me as a feature...

I was a little bummed that I had to sign up for yet another account somewhere and have to jump through hoops to be able to post comments again but it seems to work okay and not be too horrible. Not sure what our other frequent commenters will think about this.

I was wondering if anyone else thought this is a little controversial given the reactions months ago when they published and retracted the guide to "the one night stand"? Okay, maybe controversial is too strong a word but it seems like the articles they are publishing are lacking in "substance"...that they are more uhm, more "Cosmo" magazine material than serious relationship seeker material...

Maybe it's just me.

Interesting. I don't see this on my match.com account.

They have have added a new feature, called "Daily 5" where they automatically match you with 5 members and you must choose Yes/Maybe/No when presented with them. This is almost verbatim what they were/are using in Chemistry.

The visual personality test description seems to be the same thing that Chemistry was using, too. It seems as if parts of Chemistry.com are being integrated into Match.com, possibly because Chemistry.com isn't quite the cash-cow they hoped for?

Is this indication that Chemistry.com is a flop? It has been a long time since we have talked about Chemistry vs. eHarmony. I wonder if this eventually means they are going to phase out Chemistry.com in favor of a revamped Match.com.
