I am very sad that Jim Prosser is leaving CR we are losing a great Manager. CR VOTED to have a strong manager system. Now we have a Dictator Mayor and his sycophants. Corbett is nothing but a power hungry bully that will eventually get a weak Manager of his choice hired on so he can tell him what to do and they will cower.

Prosser was only trying to be fiscally responsible to the citizens of CR and to be a level head when Corbett proposed all his money draining projects.

Corbett wants to build ampitheaters and convention centers and all these great things that CR does need... BUT we first need to rebuild from the flood and replace some badly damaged infastructure. Then we can add the icing.

I think the Marion location is a great idea! Amphitheater's need to be away from noise and distractions. It would be a very easy drive as well. Get off on County home... turn on 10th and voila! There would be no one way streets and traffic to deal with. Where CR is proposing it is a horrible location. it would be close to factories and downtown. Plus the parking would be horrible.

If CR could come up with a better location I think more people would be for it. And also if the (dictator) whoops I mean Mayor Corbett... whould have proposed it openly instead of shoving it down everyone's throats he would have had a better response. Linn county is MORE than just Cedar Rapids.

Paid very Nicely? Hmmm? Maybe management does but not the guy out there picking up your trash or doing the other dirty jobs.

Yes they have a pension but they pay into it 10% of their gross each pay period. The pension at my work does not cost me a dime.

Maybe you should walk a day in your trash collectors shoes before you spout some more.

Yes it is their job and I think they do a great job and deserve more respect than they are given.

These people are your friends and neighbors. They do thankless work and expect to earn a decent wage for it.

Next time you need a city service I hope they do not PUSH themselves too hard to help you.

But I am sure if they do give you the quality service you pay for and deserve as a city tax payer... You will be 1st in line to go out and thank them won't you?

Probably not... you will just continue to breed more contempt for these people that are just trying to make a decent living and raise families in our wonderful city.

OT worked during the floods was MANDETORY. It is same with any other disaster. They are required by contract to work. There were several city workers that had homes in the flood area that had to be at work instead of saving their own home. Lazy bums...

I have a few more examples that I have seen of laziness in the city. Picking up YOUR nasty garbage. Lazy...Going down into the sewers filled with filth and roaches to repair or open a line. Really lazy...Plowing snow for 16 hours straight on Christmas while your family is at home. Oh the horror.....Diving down in 12 feet of murky river water to cap off a storm drain during the worst flood in our history. Crazy lazy. Standing out knee deep in freezing cold water in the middle of winter to repair a burst water line. Certifiably crazy...And many many lazy acts that I can not remember. Oh yeah and try doing all this while the people around you are sneering and yelling that you are a lazy....

Yes there may be a few employees that do not work as hard as others... but show me ANY job Gov. or private that does not have this issue.

Yeah right... I am sure that every Toyota owner has two or three cars just waiting in the wings to be used as a back up. Not drive your only means of transportation? Is Toyota going to reimburse people for cab fare, bus fare or lost wages because they are now terrified to drive their cars? I think not.
