The most superior? Hardly. First, I don't see intelligence as the most important quality of a person, and even if I did, I know lots of people who are smarter than I am.

The strange thing about your comments is that you made assumptions about my profession but accused me of bragging when I corrected the record. If I were going to brag, I wouldn't make a big deal of being an Engineer - it's far from the loftiest profession out there.

All of my comments are direct and relevant counterpoints to your assumptions, yet you throw a fit when my statements show how silly yours are.

Your previous comment suggested that I must work for the government - I merely corrected the record with no intention of bragging.

As for intelligence, it's pretty easy to guess how smart you are based on your writing quality (or lack thereof). The inferiority complex is also rather unbecoming.

As for my own business travel, you implied that only the government would spend money flying someone to a meeting - I provided a personal example showing that a very profitable private company does the same.

Nice try - I'm an engineer. And I fly over 100,000 miles a year to meet with people because my company knows that phone calls do not have the same effect as personal meetings.

And I have enough of a sense of scale to understand that a $600 plane ticket for the governor is not the cause of our multibillion dollar budget woes. On the other hand, loudmouths who have nothing more substantial than this to complain about are part of the problem.

Oh, yes, because phone calls have the same effect as meeting in person. (If that were true, there would be no such thing as business travel.)

You claim to "know" how these things work. Where does this knowledge come from? The same place as your dismal command of written English?

This isn't just generic defense spending - this is an allocation for the national guard - and I know from my previous life as a registered federal lobbyist that having stakeholders like the Governors who are in charge of the guard units come and testify before Congress does affect the support they get.

This is exactly the type of issue the Governor should be officially representing the state on. And I know she travels modestly and flies coach - she was in a middle seat a couple of rows ahead of me on a flight last year.

They need to be sentenced to a long stay in a homeless shelter where they can be amongst the vulnerable people they stole from.

San Francisco and Portland also enforce it - and the streets are pretty orderly.

Being taken by just one Pastor is being served well? How many have to rip her off before you call it a raw deal?

The victim in this case is clearly an uneducated and superstitious person who is afraid to think for herself. She doesn't have serious dementia, or she wouldn't have recalled all of these details for a week.

Really, Howard? As tiresome as your endless self-promotion here is, from your comments it would seem that everyone except you is incompetent.

The State DOT has its faults, but over the past several years they have an amazing track record of delivering projects ahead of schedule and under budget.

We don't know much about this problem yet, but I hardly think it warrants your harsh assessment.
