Krusty,I agree with you about rudi. But he did give watson not out & dhoni out didn't he??If oz appeals to have rudi banned ,so will india. That presents a rather unique situation wherein both sides agree.Even with rudi helping you out, you're getting a much-loved thrashing.(Tongue always in cheek).
Hey hey chill with the caste certificates.Except for the fab 5 who by & large play just test cricket almost every young new player that india has is not an upper caste.Don't bring caste into this.If you're saying no1 calls for his head coz he's upper caste then that's ridiculous. The greatest cricketer india ever produced was a vertain kapil dev nikhanj who's from the trader community.
Zaheer khan has terrorised lefthanded top order batsman around the world.Smith,Gayle,Sangakkara,Jayasuriya the english openers (whoever it was during india's england tour) & Hayden.Hayden & Sehwag are my 2 favourite batsman of all time. He'll be back .
Just 1 piece of advice for the english cricket media & the fans-I know the ashes is all you care for but there's a series going on in india which is quite exciting to say the least.England will tour india just after australia. You might have a few problems there. So basically- get the blinkers off.The world's a nice place.
I agree with Gaurav's views completely. The english board & even australian board are doing everything in their power to devalue the IPL.Australia has been won over with the whole champions league 25% revenue that they'll recieve very 'lovingly' from the BCCI.IPL contracts predated the english tour. They deliberately fixed the dates so as to intrude into the IPL calendar. To dispute that is pretty immature.Anyways the IPL makes sure that the players are paid exactly what they deserve.Free market rates apply & your performance decides your price. The english board go ahead with this 20-20 for 20million rubbish which is shameful & pathetic. The whole country versus cash thing is lame. Why do you care so much about the political situation in zimbabwe??Every country has political issues. Also right now the whole world's economy is going through grief.Really lame & hugely propogandic post.
So it's allright for the Non-Asian countries to unite & form a group & not right for the Asian countries to do the same. What do you think england would have done if an english tycoon decided to start a 20-20 leauge against the cricket board & offer players huge sums of money to take part??Much the same ,my friend.Much the same. The whole domestic structure breaks off tangentially & international teams become much weaker coz their best players have the license to play a 20-20 leauge instaed of the routine. The IPL is in accordance with the ICC & is very well regulated. Also allows players freedom.English hypocrites are behaving like ostriches & looking away.Deeply disturbing.
Coming to todays play:Umpires at it again-Hayden & Ponting wrongly given out & Katich & Ponting surviving what were clearly LBW & caught & bowled off kumble.Somewhat even. Why can't we have the referral system??It solved more problems than it created & showed up some show-pony umpires. Why wait till next year,if you want to go ahead with it.
Ponting scores a well-deserved & hard working 100.Rides the spin beautifully.Must have practised hard.Should send a thanq note to lalit modi if not done already. Its not an easy shot, the whip to backward squareleg. But if he can make runs ,so can india's unfit & flat-footed middle order.
Second lastly, this is not england they're playing against .Its india.Last time england beat india home or away was 13 years ago.So take it easy with the 5-0 comparison.
Lastly,I think every1 should stand up & applaud ,wherever you are for the poor bengali guys from bangladesh who've thrashed newzealand in an ODI at home.I thought they'd improved hugely last time they played india & instantly knew that NZ,ENG,ZIM,WIN esp. would lose the odd match consistently in BAN.Well done bengalis.
JII:End of 1'st day, honours even. Why do I get the feeling you're south indian??I mean that in a nice way though.
Alex Try:
Victory for australia??Did that thought come to you in a sober state.Yes,India currently rely heavily on its opening duo.But Sachin has never failed against aus, neither has Laxman.India's batsman failed against Mendis & Murali.Every1 else would too.Mathew Hayden & the Anglo-Indian guy, Stuart Clark represent the biggest hurdles for India.Lee isn't that quick nowadays & tends to bore batsman out with an 8th stump line outswing strategy.India=Low bounce except mohali, punjab.Hence, that makes him not a huge threat.Clark with his height & natural bounce is difficult on uneven surfaces where the ball can shoot through.
Also,Indo-Aus rivalry is hyped so much purely because of the cricket on offer & the recent ego battles.Fans & the players get more charged playing west-punjab,ie. Pakistan. But we play them so often that its now boring.
Every time any1 offers an opinion on shane warne, they never fail to reprimand him on his 'human errors'.Stuff like , he's a great bowler but not the best man.Upto a limit, its allright. But its getting bugging. All these greats have some frustrations or the other that they one day pour out in print or use the electronic media. He's a great, period. No,I don't care if he's begging nurses to have sex with him.He was also a genius in intimidating non- indian batsman. Are hayden, sehwag, up there??Steven Waugh overall was the best test batsman that aus had befor hayden came along. He should be right up there.
& wat in the union jacked hell have you done to your blog???I've got 2 points & none of my comments are on it.WTF???Somthing u had that cric info didn't was simplicity hence the fondness for the old 1.
Well criket isn't a religion in india, cricketers are.Just coz some guy talked about the ICC's attitude with you that doesn't mean a thing.I've talked with guys who claim they're huge cricket buffs & 99.9% of them don't know the LBW law.outside leg stump, playing or not playing a shot, etc etc, nothing.Absolutely no info on LB's.No1's interested in the game, the glamour associated with the cricketers.I generally find english fans most knowledgeable.Next time you're in india ask the taxi guy if ganguly is right or left handed batsman. You'll get your answer. They are the most hyped sportpersons here. Now to these semi literate or fully illiterate fans, anything can be an article on cricket. Also most of the fanaticism is reserved for the batsmen.Mst indians identify with batsmen. The article u read was tolerable in many ways, like a tour diary. You should watch the glamour channels with their half hour programs with fashion designers discussing cricketers personal style. But hey,the 0.1% fan base in indian terms would amount to a lot of people.
