Now in regards to this conversation. The people in this video live in New Jersey where the cost of living is much higher. So $9 per hour in Newark, New Jersey is the same as $12.56 in Jefferson City, MO.
So in this story it strikes me odd that the best these people can do is find $9 per hour jobs. Something is wrong here. They did not give us all the data about these people.
Now, in regards to your situation in MO. Are you in a rural area or a metropolitan area?

Low end manufacturing jobs pay $10 per hour to do fulfillment work or warehouse work. Then you go up from there. IT people and other tech skilled people are paid between $20 - $30 per hour. Big machine operators in a variety of manufacturing segments (Non union) get paid between $15 and 35 per hour.
Based on your writing I would suggest you check your negativity at the door and stop belittling yourself.
I do not outsource anything. All work is done in US by US workers. We pay them fair market wages and in some cases higher based on the demand for their skill set.
What is your skill set? What is your experience in the work force?
